WTH is wrong with DELL?? They are selling a Dell WiFi CF card for $99
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/product...19&sku=310-2935
When you can get them EVERYWHERE else SO MUCH Cheaper, like Best Buy- check the link below
http://www.bestbuy.com/Detail.asp?m=488&ca...cat=&e=11177336
As Axim owners we should be given some type of discount or rebate from Dell. If you opened up an preferred account with Dell you should be given a bigger discount! You are a PREFERRED ACCOUNT holder!
Unless they PREFER not giving you a deal to buy accessories for THEIR OWN PRODUCT!
I said before when this site first went live, and again when servers got switched over. THIRD TIME IS A CHARM-
BUYERS CLUB!!
WE are over 1000 strong, we should all email DELL and request a discount for DELL AXIM ACCESSORIES.
This site should get preferred treatment because we are saving Dell money, HOW ? you ask. Simple, if any of us have an issue we all consult this site before calling Dell and 8 out of 10 times, AXIMSITE gives me the right answer to my problems. So I am not calling Dell clogging up there phone lines.
THIS GROUP HAS SAVED EVERYONE INVOLVED A FEW HEADACHES PARTICULARLY DELL.

yeah CF wireless cards are pretty cheap now. Now its just the question of which one is better meaning which one consumes less of your PDA power, which is more of a conveniance to carry around and protrude from your AXIM. I seen pictures where the linksys one looks HUGE compared to other ones that are similar in size to the one sold on dell. But still doesnt explain a BIG ASS price difference, i will wait :) althought i want one. Same with microdrives those suckers are around 200 bucks for a GIG one!

The Socket WLAN Low Power card is the pricey but tiny CF Wifi card - I own it. It fits in my Dell case (installed and uninstalled). It drains my battery less than my HUGE Linksys. But it costs $139! Eh, I can afford it. ;)
The Dell card may be a rebranded Socket, in which case $99 is not a bad deal.

Hey Racer X, thanks for posting that picture.
Without comparison pictures you really can't tell the difference. I wonder if the Dell Card is small like Socket card- small and efficient with its power consumption.
Dell should post that information.

I think Dell should send me a free WiFi card so that I can compare it to the Socket and Linksys. ;)

The Linksys model that RacerX posted was the WCF11 older model (Type II), where as the newer WCF12 (Type I) is about 1cm shorter. Also, the WCF12's antenna doesn't flank-out and cover up the earphone jack like the WCF11 does, it's flush like the Socket.
Dimensions:
WCF11: 71.0mm X 54.0mm X 10mm
WCF12: 60.2mm X 43.2mm X 3.3mm
Racer, I'm just wondering what the dimension your Socket LPWAN card has, and about how long the batt lasts with the thing plugged in and used extensively? Cuz if Dell's OEM card is a rebranded Socket, I just might consider it!
TIA!

I hate to admit this, but I don't have a ruler in the house so I can't measure it.
I build PCs, constantly rewire my home entertainment system, and read computer magazines for fun - AND I DON"T HAVE A RULER!
Sorry.
However, I am glad to report that the battery on the Axim does seem to last longer when using the Socket card. I haven't drained it all the way yet so I don't know the absolute limit.
