Backup Software question?

I recently purchased a external hard drive and was wondering if anyone out there could recommend a good program for backing up my files etc.

Tar and gzip are very useful for backups.
There's always the good old cp (for already compressed files), though.

For automated and all kinds of other great functions, I love Novastor

It is cheap for what it does and works wonders, plus has all the features anyone should need.

If you just want to do straight copy backups where it just is like copy and pasting the folders to your external HDD, but on a regular timed schedule, i would recommend ezbackitup:
http://www.rdcomp.net/ezbackitup/index.php

It is very simple, free, and also works very well

Grentz: Thanks for the link to ezbackitup. I've been looking for something to automate uncompressed backups on the machines of my two less computer literate co-workers. Yea!

If all else fails there's the good old fashioned robocopy and a batch file... schedule a task to run the batch file every night and let robocopy do the work.

Star882... the only problem with your suggestion was that you didn't recommend a cron job :approve:
