Microsoft Reader does not start

After performing a hardware reset and installing the new rom for Axim, my MS reader just show the welcome cream and the quits again. Clicking on any lit-document doesn't work anymore.
My reader isn't activated - might that be the problem or is there something wrong with the rom ?

Cool Activate the reader

You have to activate the reader before you can go farther. Its kind of BS to have to set up a Hotmail account to please MS but its a small price to pay and I have not checked that account since I activated it.

why do you ask ?
is that of any interest ?

I mean, you download them (e.g some dictionaries from MS website) and copy them onto the card (preferred via a card reader).

Worried Hey Joe

I seem to recall that at one point I had to reinstall my MS reader becasue of it "hanging" on the start page. I would try that. If that does not work you might want to go to the MS support page and see if there are any issues that might affect your opening the reader. Sorry that I cannot be more help. And it realy does nto matter where you store the e-books. I have two SD cards full.

Dear wmrawls,

thanks for your posts.
The thing is that MS Reader is located in the ROM.
When I installed the reader, I agreed to overwrite existing files.
Now the reader works again.
But ... the available storage shrink for around 2 or 3 Megs.
Having a closer look to the files, they aren't located in the ROM anymore but obviously in the RAM.
I wonder if the files of the ROM still exist. So I tried to remove the reader again. Unfortunately is's not possible. It says there are open files (some ttf-fonts) in the windows directory.

Do you know any way to replace files in the ROM ?
Is is normal the font files are in windows folder instead of the fonts folder ??

Hmmmm

You have gone past my knowledge base, limited as it is, Depending on how long and how many programs are on yoru AX you may want to consider doing a hard reset and startign over from scratch. If I were you I would do search on this site and at MS to see if there is a FAQ that may help. Myself when I get to this point I drop back and punt.
Good Luck.

You can actually get a passport for any valid e-mail address.

No, I didn't realize that either until after I had set up a silly hotmail account...
