Your Feedback - Converting MP3 to OGG

The original quality if my MP3 files are 5, 44kHz. I can convert to OGG at teh same or 4,44kHz or even more at 2,22kHz, Anyone of you done this and do you ear the difference between the two conversion qualities. I will be using AShampoo MP3 AudioCenter.

I say, and this is my view.

If you care about quality don't do it.

Converting a lossy format to nother lossy format is a bad idea. You end up with the worst possible file for the two formats (ie the bad points of mp3 and ogg).

Rip again, in fact give lossy up and go to flac.

MMMM flac.

I would stick with MP3, you will save a bit of space with OGG, but it is not as universal, and as said above you will end up losing more quality

If you are really worried about the results, just try it and test it and see how you like it.

It all depends on the person, I personally rip at 192kbps MP3 and that sounds great to me.

I third that.

Make a photocopy of a document and then make a photocopy of that photcopy. Now photocopy that 2nd gen photocopy on the worlds best photocopier and see if it ever comes close to the original.

No matter what settings you use for the OGG file, it can never be better than the original MP3 file.
