Skyscape Programs 'crash' after coming out of standby

Hey everyone...I'm new to the forums here and I have to say alot of the tricks have helped to make my axim work alot smoother, esp the 'Fake server' hack.

However, I use my X51v to run alot of skyscape.com programs for my medical references while at school and I notice that my programs crash after coming out of standby mode. I have a SanDisk Ultra II 512MB CF card in the expansion slot and I thought I'd save on internal ROM space by putting my programs on the CF card. But now i notice that when i try to get back to the index in my programs that the PDA will hang for about 2minutes before taking me back to an index that now has a bunch of blank lines and a whole lot of garbled characters.

Only way I'm able to work around this when the programs are installed on my CF card is to exit the program out of memory manager and then reload the program. That gets annoying so i resorted to putting the programs back on internal ROM memory. I've only seen issue with my skyscape programs. I also have my GPS maps installed on the CF card and have not had any issues with my GPS software. Anyone know if there is a compatability issue with CF cards / SanDisk Ultra II CF cards?

My only guess to the crashing is that the skyscape programs are trying to access the databases on the card before the unit has fully booted and the CF card has received power, causing a lockup but then it also locks up even after i've let it sit for 30sec or so.

Sorry my post is so long. Thanks in advance to those who reply!

I don't really have this problem. I suppose that I tend to have the x50v on most of the time and then exit the program prior to switching off. Maybe the atorv patch will help?

I put the atorv patch and its still the same problem. I dont get the problem if i exit the program prior to switching off. I am able to navigate around the current page the program is on when i come back out of standby but once i decide to go anywhere else, I get the lockup. Only way really around it is to come out of standby, exit the program, and then reload it...but I see that more of a hassle since the program should be working right away after coming out of standby.

I'm using a ton of skyscape programs from my SD card (ScanDisk 2GB) on my x51v without any problems... Comes out of standby just fine.

Same exact problem

I have the same exact problem that you were describing. Also I have the same exact SD Card. Do you think it's possible that this is some kind of compatibility issue with Sandisk?

Also were you able to get anywhere closer to figuring out this problem since you first posted.

I store most of my Skyscape programs on my SD card and have not had any problems with hang-ups/crashes after returning from standby (x51v).

Perhaps you should try storing the programs on the SD instead of the CF card.

Also, if you have any Today screen programs that show any changing info (battery life, flash card free space, weather or whatever), try disabling those. It could be when you come out of standby, it's taking longer for the Axim to recognize the cards because it's being slowed down by the updating of the info.
