Satellite Radio

Have you looked into satellite radio? Provider?

What made you (plan to) get it (service, personalities, convenience, etc)?

I got an XM because of a great deal they had going before Xmas 2004, plus I could finally get Air America Radio since there's a snowball's chance of an affiliate in Alabama.

I drive alot in remote areas to get to customers. Having xm gives me some nice, consistent radio.

got Sirius at the same time that Howard announced so I was happy with that but the rest of the programming is very good too. I very rarely listen to terrestrial radio anymore.

I've had Sirius for about two years...it just makes driving a joy again....it's nice to have good music without all the crap we have to listen to terrestrialy.

I haven't gotten interested in it yet. I am sure I will eventually. I already have too many gadgets.

I have XM. I got it last May so I could listen to baseball but I also love the music channels, the comedy channels, and XM Public Radio's Bob Edwards Show.

I got XM....love it...there's a website called XStreamXM that has a mobile version that will use your XM Radio Online username and password to attach to XMRO. Turns my x50 into a MyFi (portable XM unit) when there's a wireless LAN around. Which is nice.

I may get it someday but for now I'm very seldom in a car more than 20 min. and it's not worth it to me for that short time.

I signed up with XM in December. Why?

* I have DirecTV. XM is played on the music channels, so I was familiar with it.
* I enjoy XM programming.
* I got a discounted 1-year subscription for $77. (That's more than 50% off the regular rate.)
* The XM receiver (Roady2) that I bought was super cheap- $14.99. In fact, I bought 2 of them just so I could get an extra antenna, power adapter, and mount for use in my other car. I don't even use the extra receiver unit, but in case my current one fails, I have a backup!

With four six-pack CD cases in the trunk, radio is a "has been."

'Course being fifty-eight, I can listen to the same old stuff, over 'n over, over 'n over again.

If I went with satellite, it would be with Sirius. XM's association with Clear Channel is enough to sway me to avoid them.

But they'd have to come up with plans that make sense for families and people who own multiple vehicles, and who also want portable devices. So far, it's just a lot more money than I'd want to spend. But I might earn more money, and then my opinion might be different ;)
