In my original post I was not questioning so much why people leave but the curious all or nothing nature of the dramatic end.
An analogy: Someone who plays on a neighborhood softball team blows his knee and is no longer able to play. He has developed friends on the team and enjoys the comradery and all that. If this was important as he indicated he may have to quit the team but he could still go to some games, hang out with them on occasion, ect, ect, ect.
If all that was important to him it would seem a little odd if he hobbled in and said "You are a great bunch of guys, I have really enjoyed this and will miss you but I must move on. Have a nice life."
A teammate might think, "Whats this about 'moving on'? He just lives two doors down, he can come over anytime."
I'm leaving.......after my 50,000th post.I will be to old to see the computer screen and I will be babbling over my oatmeal by then.
Hmmm, I'm babbling over my oatmeal as I type this....what's that say about me? Oh, well, I haven't reached 50,000 posts yet, so I guess you're all stuck with my babbling for a while longer!

There's only 2 things that come from Texas...
As far as dramatic announcements go - that's all they are. Some people just need attention. That's why we announce we've reached x number of posts or other milestones. We all like attention. Maybe those people announcing they were leaving wanted to be talked into staying. I remember one actually decided to stay after all even thought he sold his pocket pc.
Heck, all you need is an axim with wifi. Find a wifi network and connect to it. Then go to this site. To charge your axim just find an open outlet. Theyre everywhere.
