10. Too many 3rd party apps made to modify the look of Windows XP. Can't buy out, humiliate, or imtimidate them all, so might as well make it "built in" to the OS itself. Hey, it worked against Netscape.
9. Needed more puzzling name than "XP."
8. Tired of supporting Windows 2000, need an excuse to stop.
7. Getting another $150 from everybody in the world would really tick off Warren Buffett.
6. Create a Bill Gates clone to contend with all the Walton clones.
5. Getting another $750 from everybody in the world to replace the now-incompatible software would allow you to make your own spaceship like Richard Branson's.
4. You could email the Sultan of Brunei that he has just been Punk'd.
3. Won't need to issue XP SP3.
2. Current patches make XP wayyyyy too secure.
1. Needed a new way to get money from playing Solitaire in "Vegas" mode while online.
I'm upgrading the second my drivers are available...I want to take full advantage of my 64bit dual core processor for once (and I'm not touching XP64).

Great list PB! I hear Vista will run all Mac and Linux software, thus eliminating the need to purchase those Os's. Of course it won't work properly until Vista sp2.2 comes out.
I dont go out and upgrade every time a new os comes out. I had a 98 before xp. Ill probaby upgrade to the os after vista. Vista, right now looks like xp with a big new ui that eats up ram and video card memory. All the 3d and invisible windows, etc.

I'm an IT pro, and as such I have to keep up on the latest.
I'll have it on my desktop.. for at least 6 months prior to it going out to any clients... hopefully at least as long as it takes for SP1 to show...

Vista looks like it might be interesting - but I'm pleased with the stability and function of XP Pro. Dunno about this one. Some cool stuff - but worth retooling everything once again?
My hardware will support it - I just don't know if I'm interested in putting aside something as stable and reliable as XP has turned out to be.
Not yet. Of course there IS no yet, yet .... if that makes sense!

Umm.... I don't think so. I have the latest preview, Build 5308. That is the last build in which they will make archetechial changes. Sorry, no Mac support. I run it on VmWare, so if you guys want to check it out, its not bad. Actually, I use it as my main OS. I'm typing this in Vista. Hint: Build 5112 is much faster on VmWare than 5308, but has WAY less cool features. Obviously, Vista would be faster on a real computer instead of a virtually emulated one.

Ummm...I don't think so either. I was just kidding. Did you not read the first post and realize it was a humorous thread? You're killing my humor here.
