It's a birthright, kinda of like Simba in the Lion King. He was born to be the King. LOL... no, really there is no formula. I am amazed that I am an MVP.

MVPs are chosed and nominated for their contributions and evangelism of Windows Mobile products. Mobile Device MVPs come from lots of avenues, but many of them are active in Newsgroups and Forums answering questions and helping others learn and adapt. Some MVPs are developers that pioneered the Mobile Device development. Some are community leaders that have a wide reach.

In person, I get a lot of people ask me where to take the MVP test, I giggle and say get the study guide at Barne's and Nobles. Then I let them know I was joking. Alot of people think its a certification.

There also is some good info on it on the MVP site:
http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/

Especially in the faqs section, they answer some good questions on the whole subject :)
