Justin, I truly hope you don't really mean this. Happy Easter.
ps. my name (cbs01) has nothing to do with original article posted by ABF.
I dont, but what i mean't was:
Well this is a example: As you may of all heard a girl had a myspace, and was killed or raped (not sure). By her doing this Its her fault , if she never accepted his invitation she never would of gotten killed/raped.Then parents are going nuts over "You will get killed if you have a myspace!" Which too me is utter crap. However, If it is a mere 10 year old boy and he doesnt know what he is doing his parents didnt teach him not to talk to strangers or whatever the reason may be. It is the parents fault. Just clearing that. You also must remember "People learn from there mistakes."
Have a happy easter everyone,
-Justin
Axim X50 Owner-- I hope you are very young and know not what you say.
If you are older and some woman knocked your block off for saying that, would it be your fault for being so immature?
yes. i agree with x50 owner. that girl was mudered becouse she gave a complete starnger her info. now if it was a 7 year old than it would be differnt but this girl was old enough to know that you never do that. and i know someone will say, well chris you met with frenchy, how did you know he wasnt a muderer. well becouse i know that other people had met him beofre me and it was my idea to met him in the first place. also we met in a very crowded public place.

Im 18, go to a catohlic college (Providence college), Drive a porsche 944 which i restored, and i am a active catholic. What i say is true, if you give your personal info to other people you dont know and trust, you my friend are extreamly stupid. I talk much defferently to women, dont worry.

Axim_X50_owner, I agree with your point. It's the girls fault if she gave out personal information even when her parents told her to be careful. The problem is, the parents then blame the site, and not the two parties at fault: their child and the criminal. Oh, sure, they blame the criminal, but the easiest target to go after is the medium that their daughter communicated through. Tough luck on MySpace.
(Notice, I've been looking into this lately, as I'm building a website targeted at kids of all ages, including under 13... Lots of policy issues... ;-) Legal red tape, her I go!)

imo it's a good article, and i think it's right that parents should keep an eye on what their kids are up to.
some of the acronyms i didn't know tho, i use a fair few myself tbh, but it's taken me a while to learn them. the whole 1337 speak thing i just don't get at all tho, maybe i'm getting old

I think we all agree that there are prudent safety measures that should be taken while on the Internet. But if someone is physically harmed the fault rests with the criminal, not the victim.
I personally do not think Myspace or most websites should be held liable for the actions of perverts. There are exceptions, sites which encourage such behavior need to be dealt with. The legal wranglings of all this is just starting.
But...
Being "stupid" is not the same thing as being at fault. Being "stupid" is not immoral or a crime but physically harming another person most certainly is. No woman has ever deserved being raped. To suggest she could have prevented it if only she would have done this or that seems to be a weak attempt to place the blame on her.
Many, many women have been attacked and the rape went unreported because of the false sense of guilt they feel. This is why I take exception to the quotes above.
You guys may want to have some long discussions with your mothers, sisters, aunts and other women in your life about this before determining fault.
@johl_1: I hate chat lingo, or whatever you want to call it. I think electronic communication is impersonal enough without codes... ;-)
i agree with you here if i'm honest, i vastly prefer face to face. but i do play a lot of counter strike etc, so there's never enough time to type everything out :p although voice chat in css is pretty decent
