You do not understand the issue nor do you understand what is at stake. Kids are getting stalked because parents are not monitoring. And in your case, lets see, programming 100 lines of HTML or talking about High School Musical on-line. Who do you think they would go after. If you do not have kids I do not understand how you can even begin to argue this. My kids are the most important thing to me, and I would do anything to protect them. Something you are much to young to understand yet.

You do not know me from the guy next door. Now that I now you like HTML, and have watched you post on this site, I just may know that aximbigfan, likes HTML, he definitely likes Axim, so I am going to try to get in touch with him. So I send you a PM, saying I am a 15 year old kid who would like to know what kind of HTML programming you have been doing, because I too am a HTML programmer. I say I live in St Louis and after about a week of talking with you, we develop a friendship. Okay, I send you a post about an HTML users group meeting that you might be interested in, send you an invitation, make it sound official and say they are giving away a door prize of some progams for POCKETPC. More then likely I got you. You may be smarter them most kids and say forget it, but this is how they work. Sometimes they spend 2 or 3 months building relationships so they can attack.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT PARENTS ARE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THIER KIDS ON_LINE ACTIVITIES.

While Aximsite is a great sight, and 99.999999999999999999999999999% of all the people on it are great, it and sites like this is where the trolling can begin. Although you did not provide alot of personal information, you have provided the individual with enough information, just by the things you post.

Just think about it!!!!

As a parent, I wholeheartedly agree.:approve: Chris's parents should read the thread, and hopefully a meaningful discussion will ensue between parents and child.

You just don't get. Its not about this simple example, its about the fact that based on how you've posted, and information you gave in these posts, I know more about you than you would like to think I do. A predator would use this information, although you do not thinks its personal information to entice people to give more information. It happens it has happened and it will happen again. Please PLease do not live in the niave world that it would never happen to you. When you do that, thats when people lets thier guard down. I am sure that based on your thousands of posts that I could mine so much information about you that I could easily earn your trust if I was a predator. It happens.

Now this guy was good. He spent 10 days talking to these girls on this site, watched a movie that they all loved, and was actively engaging them in a topic they loved.
Were the authorities contacted and were there any follow up?

I turned it over to the District Attorney. I have not heard anything, but it was turned it over to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, because I was called by an agent.

The blame still falls on the predator who attacked her, it was not her fault. She did a stupid thing, but should it of cost her her life. The blame lies in the people using technology in a evil way.
Your example doesn't work. Your daughter was smart. She asked you if she could send that info. Now tell me, what would you do if you hadn't been there? What if she had sent that info? You know now that it was a jerk on the other end, and not another preteen girl. Trying to ignore that fact, how would you feel about your daughter? Would you just ignore it, or ground her for a week? I'll be interested to see what you respond with.

Just to note: I am for this article. I am for blaming, punishing, and generally going after the criminals. I am for parents teaching their kids that it's never safe to give out personal information. (Including ordering things. Teach them HOW to order stuff online safely!) I am not for blaming the middle-man websites or IM programs.

Sorry for taking this off the first topic, if I was the one who started it roaming.

Though I don't fully agree with AximBigFan, I still have great respect for him. He has posted several threads about things that got him flamed, insulted, and just plain laughed at. And yet, he's still hanging out here and helping our Axim community.

How do you know no one has "stalked" you? Have you ever given personal information out? If I PMed you asking where you live, would you give me your address? You know I've been on this site a while. You know people know who I am. Would you trust me with your info?

I hope not.
