Never turned it on actually. Where do I turn it on in Windows so that I could try it?

Right-Click on Desktop. Go to Properties, Appearance, Effects.

I assume you are running XP(or Vista maybe), right? If not, you won't have Clear Type.

I always use cleartype...I wouldn't have it any other way...

CLEARTYPE MAKES LCDs EASIER TO READ.

I use it. It's work great on my 14" Packard Bell CRT monitor.

ClearType is great. To see a great comparison between ClearType, Standard, and Off, just apply each one and take a look at your Start button.
