Was it an impulse buy or something. Most people research a product on the internet before they buy it nowadays. Especially if it is big purchase. Maybe you should do that in the future rather than griping about it after the fact.

Seven post under your belt and not one question about any serious problem.Instead of ranting why not ask for a little help first. That is what we do here.

Exactly ... First post should always be a rant. Second post through the 10th post should be questions, all further posts should be a mix of questions/answers/ and mini-rants :)

Hmm

Too many rules in this forum!

Axim would not sync, recharge battery with travel cable. The second one worked for about 6 hours then kaput. This was with 2 cables and 2 systems that I tested this with. Changes with the system config/usb did nothing except waste my time.

I researched this item. Not stupid with a 400 dollar purchase. I have a x30i, so I know the changes etc. Waisted another 80 bucks on cables etc to get this resolved.

The new os was garbage and kept stopping. Nothing on this new axim was worth the price or the hassle of dealing with dell (6 transfers before getting India).

Again, I'm done with Dell. Too many issues and just had it.

Oh yeah I was on a huge rant and I'll still burned about this. I feel like I ate close to 500 and made a big mess in the sh**er.

I started to make some suggestions and I'm sure several nice people were waiting for a chance to help but it looks like you have made up your mind.I'm sorry you don't care for the rules so I guess you will be leaving Aximsite as well as Dell.Don't let the door hit you in the, correction:Sorry, sometime I express myself in the wrong way. What I will say is good luck and I'm sorry you are having problems.

Actually ... there aren't many. The forum is pretty lax. But randomly someone like yourself comes in with rants (troll) and gets some flack from the regulars.

Known problem. Most USB ports on current systems do not provide the level of power that the unit requires to operate and run sync activities at the same time. It's pretty much a one or the other type of thing with a travel cable. My Belkin cable is the same way.

A quick search of the forums could have saved you 80 bucks. A quick question asked would have netted the same results.

-- Most OS issues were solved by a simple tweak ... Disable automatic syncing. 2 minute fix. Again a search of the forums would have netted you the problem resolution. The OS is excellent, the implementation by Dell needed a couple of fixes. Also, be careful using software not compatible with WM5 since as the OS changes some things break.

One mans trash is another mans treasure.

Tell you what. Try the fake server trick (search the forum)... you now have the information about the charging/syncing issue... with this new found information give the unit a try again with an open mind. If you still feel like you dumped $500 down the toilet - send it back to Dell. You have 30 days from the date of purchase to return it...

I've had my Axim 51v for a couple of weeks and did quite a bit of research on this site before making the purchase. I was aware of the fake server fix before my new toy ever arrived. I wasn't 100% clear on whether the fix was necessary on a newly shipped Axim or if that was an issue that Dell had since addressed, so I got to experience the naughty behavior of the Axim and see for myself that the fix is necessary for normal operation.. I'll have to admit, if I had seen that behavior from my brand new Axim without having already been aware of the issues from researching the forum, I would have assumed that I had bought a lemon. Between doing the fake server fix, and doing some tweaking of the wirless setup, I have an Axim that is functioning normally instead of on its way back to Dell.

I hardly have any issues with my X51V Axim did the fake server trick and all problems gone, except for an occasional gwe.exe error which really doesn't bother me too much.
