I have a PSP, but I got mine and it already had 2.01 so I just went all the way up to 2.6.
I like a few of the real games I have, plus if i need to I can play some of the homebrew via the new 2.6 GTA loader (DOES NOT work with illegal games, just homebrew for classic games and such which is all i need :) (I would rather buy games so that we can support the publishers so they will make more new games!) )

I have a 1.5 firmware Psp and I mostly play Snes (Super Mario RPG), GBC (Zelda Oracle), NeoCD (KingOfFighters), Quake, Buster Brothers and I use RunUMD to play my SFA3 UMD that needs 2.6 firmware.
There are many methods to get higher firmware UMD's to work on the 1.5 firmware now.
I have to say my favourite UMD right now is Syphon filter and GTA is always great for a mess around. I used to use firmware 2.0 but downgraded for Snes TYL 0.3 ME version that uses kernel mode for sound processing / mixing on the Media Engine. I am looking forward to the Psp Psx emulator that Pacmanfan is working on and the N64 emulator is slowly but very surely progressing.

Interesting note on the PSX emulator....Sony might be coming out with an official one later this year!
It was one of the things they VERY briefly mentioned along with the GPS, Camera, and Digital Download services for the PSP coming around the time of the PS3

I remember reading about the Sony Psp Psx emulator on pspupdates some time ago. This will be very interesting to ''keep an eye on''.
However, if Pacmanfan and the team who are supposedly working on their own Psp emulator make real progress then this one will most likely have more flexibility in terms of what games you will be able to run. If they manage to get the recompiler to work then it might be worth using. Interesting stuff in the future and I am very glad to know about the Psp's full potential.
Sony's Psx emulator will no doubt have many restrictions, most likely will be distributed on UMD, either way you will most likely have to pay for games you already own to use them. Some say they think it will not be an emulator at all but more like a few Psx games ported to the Psp sold on a UMD for $20.

I have PSP 2.5 but seldom use it during working as it's obviously a gaming device (my boss wouldn't like to see that) but he never knew I played Arvalle throughout the "important" meeting on my Axim....:)

I have a PSP, i bought it with the 1gb memory card. I recently upgraded my firmwire to 2.60, and I wish there was another way besides the GTA eboot loader. Simple because, i dont have the game.....

I'm getting my PSP soon from my sister. She got it free from Microsoft (don't ask why). I wonder what firmware version it's running.

My psp is the perfect companion for my axim. They are both pimped out to the max and accomplish so many different things. I pimped them both just by doing countless hours of research. One thing is for sure, my axim is going to have a much longer life span since I always grab the PSP first.

Hackaday.com has a bunch of hacks on the PSP, including a v.2.0 - v.1.5 downgrade (easier to run homebrew apps), upgrade v. 2.0-2.6 to v.2.60, building IR peripherals, etc. Try 'em out.
