Police said Manning was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon despite not being armed because he was aided by companions, and because great bodily force was used.
My muscles (or lack there of) are now a deadly weapon?
I wonder if Ricky Williams was with them. Because there's only one reason for a pro athlete to be at a Denny's at 3am. The munchies.
diver, the fbp beat the poor geek until ge was unconcus! i think that counts as a wepon...
chris
I never said I disagree with it counting as a deadly weapon.
I didn't know before this that charges could be pressed against an individual for using their hands as a deadly weapon.
I'm just wondering where the line would be drawn regarding the use of hands as a deadly weapon. Does the individual need to be half the size of the other, or the same size? I just think it's an intresting precedent to set to declare the use of hands a "deadly weapon".
a pencil could be used as a deadly weapon, a sheet of paper(if used right) could slice open your throat, and then bleed to death. remember that shrimp thrown at the guy and ultimately died from it, was that a deadly weapon?
what about a pda, if I throw it at your head hard enough I'm sure its possible to knock you unconcisous and then you could fall and hit your head created serve brain damage leading to death, is a pda a deadly weapon? what about a computer? wait......
what about a laptop? you could beat someone to death with that, is a laptop a deadly weapon?
sorry I got carried away. I say lock up the pro and his accomplishes, then the bears need to reject the contract and the pro needs to go home(after serving a jail sentence) and then he'll write a book or something and some team will pick him up for 80 mill.
don't you just love how this world works.

Intent. The beating was part of a conscious decision to cause bodily harm, even the risk of possible death. I don't really think you could intentionally kill somebody with a shrimp. Or a shrimp kebob. Or a boiled shrimp. Or a shrimp scampi. Or a fried shrimp. Or a shrimp cocktail...
oh man, I just read the article. Mr. Manning there needs to be put to death. So he goes with his posse and gives some guy some crap, a guy who isn't bothering anybody at all. This guy just stands up for his rights a little bit, complaining to restaurant management, and Ricky takes his gang of miscreants, almost beats the guy to death, and then flees the scene. He seemed so bummed that the Cops pulled him over, until he realized that he has a pro football contract.
Summary execution for him.

but why would anyone want to risk damaging their laptop? i dont know what i would do without m little silver guy... aka inspiron 6000.
Too bad the geek didn't have a knife and slit the bastards hamstring while he was being kicked. So much for that footballers career. :realmad:
too bad he didnt have a gun. i wounder what the pro was thinking. this was posted on digg and someone pulled the ip of the guys wensite.. needless to say that server is in for lots of hacking...

intent, (i'm in no way condoning the actions of these people but,...) obviously it can easily be proven that these guys made the conscious decision to cause bodily harm, no arguments there.
but a group of built men who attack a "nerd/geek", if they were intending to kill this "nerd/geek" what stoped them? with built arms and bodies(and possible access to forks, knives, and spoons) if they intended to kill this "nerd/geek" what stopped them? they could of obvisously killed the "nerd/geek" with ease.
that's what would be asked. now if there was no intent to cause death how can this be a crime with a "deadly weapon" if there was no intent to cause death? wouldn't it be a crime with a "harmful weapon"?
now to the good part, shrimp
well people can die from shrimp being thrown at their heads, so if someone intends to do it, would that be a deadly weapon?
it'll be pretty hard to intentionally kill someone with a shrimp though, well the kebob would be easy to use to kill someone.

i think this is a load of BS, if you ask me. there is NO way a proffesional football player with everything to lose would waste it on something like that. The 'innocent' geek probably did something to really annoy him first, that or the 'geek' made it up, for publicity.....

I disagree completely.Pro players in every sport have huge egos for the most part. Not all but many of them think they are above the law because they are famous.I have been in law enforcement and seen this first hand.I will not judge what really happened because I didn't see this incident first hand.Speculation means nothing. Both sides will have their say in court.
