thread deletion ??

yet, my recent thread ( half serious/half humour ) calling attention to aximbigfan's habit gets deleted ??? ...

I see nowhere there's rules on this forum ( water fountain ) ...provided that as a general rule that we shouldn't offend or abuse... yet so many other nonsense threads could have/should have been deleted ... yet they are still there... meanwhile, a legit thread gets deleted ?? !

FWIW, I don't believe it is appropriate to start threads that demean another member (whether it is "half humour" or not). ABF takes quite a bit of guff from us regarding his spelling. A little chiding here and there seems OK.... Typically, entire threads such as this are deleted. I agree with the decision to do so.

I believe it was because some complaints were voiced about the thread. (Not 100% sure as I did not delete it).

It was not because of YOU it was because the subject is already being flamed in a bunch of other threads, so I believe some of the other staff thought we do not need more fuel for fire

Yes. Fuel is bad and costs alot nowadays...

Anyways, don't worry about it. I'm sure I've made some dumb posts that have been 'terminated'.

I believe the thread you mention did have a different tone than yours. It was clear that your thread-starting post was partly in jest, but if I remember correctly, you said some rather harsh things, too. As a general rule, entire threads such as this end up in the dust bin.

With that said, I too, would love to see ABF improve his spelling and I've ribbed him from time to time. So, I have some sympathy for your wanting him to use the spell-checker too. (are you continuing to read this thread Chris?!)

I too had some sarcastic remarks on ABF's behalf and I'm sorry for that, Aximbigfan.
I think he got the point. Yes, he writes with many mistakes and refuses to use a spell checker, we still understand what he's saying and there are many others who misspell (including myself). There are also many international users, who are not quite familiar with all the english grammar and syntax.

including me. I like ABF but at time it is frustrating to see the same word get misspelled when we told him the right spelling (becouse vs because). ABF is also home schooled and other subjects are up in his list of things to learn than spelling. It will come in time I am sure. We just have to be patient. The thread was also closed because flaming was started between two members in the thread and the content was borderline IMO.

I did a little research and I think I understand the situation.I will not comment on spelling mistakes again.

ABF is dedicated to computers and to this site - he originated a very popular thread among others - think he's a great gain - :)
