Icon3 Review: Clarivue Screen Protector. Japanese Quality for American Prices.

Price: $7.99

The dense shroud of myth surrounding the mysterious realm of "Screen Protectors" has been made slightly more transparent by the review of the Clarivue Screen protector, a protector that offers a high quality, high transparency screen protector for a very low price. This review's tagline can be summarized by the following quote.

"I've come to the conclusion that there is nothing better than a brand spanking new naked screen. No matter how clear the screen protector or the glass overlay, the naked screen's clarity and brightness will always beat it. The second best thing is the Clarivue Screen protector..."

I'd just like to throw my 2 cents in here -- I've used Clarivue protectors for a while now on both my x50v and x51v. Well worth the money, durable as they come and a pleasure to write on!

I couldn't be happier with them, and I'd buy another one in heartbeat :approve:!

Just gonna tack on to this old thread… hope that's okay.

I have been using the Clarivue screen protector and like it a lot. But as a new PDA user, I have not used anything else to compare it to. So I'd like to hear from anyone who's used Clarivue, but prefers something else. If so, what did you find that you liked better?

I bought Clarivue screen protectors for my X5 from eBay for about $4.99 + ship. It was okay. After 2-3 months, I noticed scratches on the protector itself. And it doesn't quite cover the whole screen. It left about 1 mm exposed around the edge of screen, which was annoying because lint would collect on the edges and it was hard cleaning off without removing the protector. The Letter Recognizer didn't work too well with the protector so didn't like that. I wouldn't buy it again.

My X5 is without protection now but I'm looking since I don't want any more scratches on the screen.

I was thinking of trying Martin Fields Overlay Plus next, but I would love to hear from someone who's compared the two. I just put my second Clarivue on this week. I think the first one could have lasted longer, but I ruined it trying to get it off after I got a replacement Axim.

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but do they carry the protectors for the x51? My company recently purchased an x51 for me to use, and I visited the Clarivue web site and I saw the x5, x50, x50v, x51v, x3, and x30 listed, but not specifically the x51...

Will one of the above sizes fit the x51?

Many thanks in advance!!
Mike

They are the same size screen, so I would think you can use it.

Welcome to Aximsite!

To clarify, if you have an x51, the screen protector for the x50 will fit perfectly. While I do not have a personal experience with sharing screen protector between 3.5" devices such as the x30 and x50, I do know that all screens are not the same. My screen protector for my 2.8" Samsung SCH i730 does NOT fit my 2.8" screen on the PPC 6700 perfectly. But since the x50 and x51 are the exact same device on the exterior, it will work perfectly.

And yes, Welcome to AXIMSITE!

I believe the one for the X50 should be the correct one for the X51. The V models have a slightly larger screen. I recommend you check Dells web site to confirm this.

jimbo32 is correct. The x50 and x51 models have 3.5" screens. The x50V and x51V models have 3.7" screens.

Be very careful ordering from Clarivue.com (also jhongsinc.com, caraccessory.com, and jhongs on e-Bay...all have the same dishonest Chinese owner).
The screen protectors that they offer are generic sized but being represented as an exact fit for a specific model device. There are very few devices where they will actually have a precise fit.
Also, when it comes to customer service and returned orders, they WILL RIP YOU OFF if they get the chance (they shamelessly ripped ME off)! All around they are a very dishonest company, don't send them your money!
If you MUST have their product, order only through e-Bay and pay with a credit card through PayPal so that you have some recourse. When you get the screen protector, if it doesn't fit like you expected, you can file a claim through PayPal. When returning the screen protector to Clarivue, be sure to send it by registered mail with a tracking number, if you don't you will get ripped-off (this is how they got ME)!
