After reading the post about free Skype I thought I would try it.I can sign on,do the test etc but when I dial it says I'm dialing wrong.Did the +1 thing so I think I'm dialing ok.Also It says I need to buy Skypes credit.I went to Skype Forums and although they were having some trouble it should have been worked out by now.I'm calling in the U.S.A. using a pc.Any thoughts on this?

Disregard,seems to be working ok now.All I can say is"Very Cool".

Sometimes it takes awhile for the credit to show up.

You should see the amount you have left for SkypeOut (calling out) up in the corner.

I use Skype quite a bit and it works great. The best Deal IMO though is the SkypeIn service, it lets me have a local number for my friends to call and it is totally free for me (except for the one time fee for the year which is like 30$).

i remember hearing that some people are denied the free calling out becuase of somethng with the ip adress

My problem was the 0+ key on the number pad when dialing.I need to use +1 and then the area code and number.I finally realized I had to hold the O key for a couple of seconds to get the + to enter.Works great now on pc and Axim.Free calls to a phone number is now free.I have free long distance on my cell and home phone so I may not use Skype much but it is there if I need it.

I believe they have the IP address problems worked out for the most part.

so.. how does this work in regard to calling landline ??

do you have to subscribe to skypeout obligation in order to take advantage of the free long distance to landline but they will not subtract your credit ??

or can I just install and take advantage of the free call to landline without obligations ???

I have never had Skype so I have never had credits.I signed up with no obligation what so ever.I was reading the Skype forums and there were questions and answers about credits.You may want to check there but I believe if you have credits you won't be charged during the free period.
