how did you get into pdas and hpcs? for me, it was about 4 to 5 years ago. i always loved playing puzzle games and free games, but they were on my computer. i loved my gameboy advanced, but hated buying the games!!! when i seen all the palm games, wow i was hooked. i started bugging dad using the "HEY LOOK, FREE GAMES!" lines. then i thought"hey... i can use this for school!!!" but all he ever told me was not now. eventully, after about a year, he started letting me pick on out. i had to go cheep if i wanted one though. i picked a casio casiopedia be300 which turned out to be horrible so i bailed on that, then seen the handspring treo 90 for 150! I FIGURED IT THIS WAY, PALM HAD BEEN ALL I LOOKED AT, AND HAD THE GAMES I SEEN ONLINE!!! ok, so dad said it would be my christmas gift, I JUMPED ON IT! called all the local stores, only place still selling it was officemax, a store i am not to happy with... i called, they told me they had 3 left. so we all drove down a little latter. turns out they never had any to begin with. i then got the number for the store in a differnt town, they too said they had the infamous three left, i told them i wanted them to look and see if they actully had one. they didnt. UGH! so then we went over to staples, and i had two new choices: palm m130 or sony clie sj22... yup took the better one, clie! a week goes by, me being a noob, thought the pda was bad becuase i seemed quite unstable. i got a new one, and a week later, the sj33, the next model up, comes down to be 200. wow, a pda that plays music, had better software included, and wow, twice as fast! (woohoo!!!! 66mhz!) but only radioshack had this nice sale. turns out, NOT A SINGLE RADIOSHACK IN PENNSLYVIANA HAD ONE IN STOCK. staples said no in stock, no pricematch. we walked out, turns out, lucky enough for me, my dad was going to be delivering to a pizzaeria uno in newjersy, RIGHT...NEXT...TO...RADIOSHACK!!!! wow! talk about getting lucky. i got home from school that day, to see a beutiful ORANGE sj33 charging in the kitchen. i kept the sj22 till the next saturday, and brought it back. the better knews, radioshack had a special unknown to me and dad, 25 dollar rebate making the sj33 25 dollars cheaper, thus it was 175 vx 180 for the sj22. i had bought a few little items for it, a cradle, a game controler, a keyboard. and of course, 2 128mb memory sticks. the one case i had was a bad idea, when i was visting the statue of liberty. i almost lost one of my memory sticks. goood thing my dad seen it fall out and picked it up for me. i remember reading on avantgo palm info center channle on the way home on teh bus trip, about the treo 600 and all i said was wow thats cool. a month after i got the sj33, its discontinued, 3 and a half months after, the digitilzer is acting funny... udrawing a line above the screen using case as a ruler, and using clie paint, the line would go flat and dip down about an inch! ugh! sony fixed it for free becuase it was under a 12 year warrenty but ugh i was pda less for a month. it was a month becuase 1, christmas ( i got my pda early, in fact, in august) and 2. needed to order me a whole new screen. wow i got a free lcd becuase it wasnt cracked :-) a year latter do to a labor day sale, i got a dell axim x30 624mhz with wifi and bluetooth for 300 dollars, cradle and all. wow, what a jump! a new operating system and wireless internet. i made dad buy a wifi router a month or so back when our wired one broke. this was perfect. i get wireless and a new pda, plus i get about 600 more mhz. so, i think i needed a new keybaord, got that, went to walmart, got a 256b sd card, and of course, i got a new 12 pack of screen protectors. i used teh axim, and thought, i miss palm os, but oh well. i got an external battery and everything for the axim, even a thumbboard. wow i loved the thing. then the day before thanksgiving, at 9:30 am, it died, i took out of case after switching classes, and the screen had multicolored lines all up and down it. ugh my warrerty ran out a 2 months, 2 weeks ago. i begin using no pda becuase the sj33 battery was shot. i was searching left and right for a donated pda till i got money up someone gave me a clie tj25 taht wont sync to a pc and the batt too was shot . i took my mp3 player back to walmart ( love that 90 day warrenty) and got my 200
dollars back, i got some eraly christmas money, and got a palm tx due to a current free keybaord by rebate detail at the time. and about 2 months later, a good friend who about 2 yrs ago saio dif he upgraded, would give me his palm tungsten t3, pulled through but better. he told me to go online, and read reviews of the lifedrife, if i wanted it, i could have it for free. i hadnt talked to him is so long, yet he remembered me. so i got a lifedrive and a tx now, the two clies i have work, sj33 got a batt from a guy in canada. about a month ago, the guy who sent ld offered me this nec mobilepro 780, and a 120gb usb hdd. i jumped on that deal. he also included a 512mb ultra2 cf card, and sme fountian pen ink. and now, i sit here waiting for yet another package, a creative nomad jukebox 3, and a few spare batteries, and a pair of sony noice cancling headphones. wow. i am really getting to be a geek latly. all i need is a laptop now. i recently got a new cell phone, my dad got a motorola e815 and i got a lg vx 5200 free!
ok, sorry this is way long, but i hadda post it all lol.so anyone else got some good stories?
-mikey pizano
-typed on nec mobilepro 780 and transfer to computer
Dude, to make that blob readable you have to use paragraphs to separate some of your ideas. Great story, however. You seem to remember the details like this happened yesterday. I can feel the excitement you felt. You may not be a natural writer but you're a good story teller. Good job.
My story isn't quite as exciting as Mikey's. In January of 2000 my friend from KC came to visit. I had started taking some VB classes for fun and was really getting into computers for my job, which was running and managing 22 privately owned small loan stores. I needed a way to have info with me to look up quickly. I had a laptop, but needed instant on capability.
Anyway, my friend had a palm VX, which was the sleekest thing I had ever seen. If you never saw one, it's .4" thick and makes the x50v look huge. At the time it was state of the art and I fell in love with it. The palm os has some features that are superior to wm os, like the way tasks are organized If I remember correctly, in the top right of the screen are categories of tasks. You choose a category and those tasks show up. In fact, the palm os has many more features that made it more usable, whereas wm needs addon software to make it perform as well.
I couldn't afford the VX for $450, so I bought a IIIe for $150. It had a b & w screen and 2mb of ram and I was in heaven! Within a year I upgraded to the VX, then I got the Toshiba e335, my first wm2002 unit, a thin, sleek form factor that worked great. It was my first color unit. But it couldn't handle gps, so I upgraded to the x30 in Jan 05, found Aximsite the next month and here I am.
The funny thing is I had taken BASIC programming in hs then in college in 1986. I figured in 1999 I could take a visual basic class (1 semester) and learn what I needed in order to program. Well, things changed in 14 years. I then took a second class, then a third, then I was knee deep. There is no end, is there? I don't officially program for work, I'm in sales! In Jan 05 I changed jobs and travel the midwest states and Florida and sell stuff. Does anybody want to buy some stuff?

Thanks! Actually, I sell stuff to factories, like thread, foam, mattress ticking and textiles. But I'm always on the lookout for more stuff to buy and sell.:approve:
