Well.... The U.S. Senate gave us the middle finger
The U.S. Senate voted for amnesty today(well technically yesterday). Legallizing tens of millions of law-breakers against the will of the peoplewho voted them in and the people who they are suppose to represent.
OVERWHELMINGLY the people of this country wanted the boarders closed FIRST. So the senate grants amnesty instead.
The house passed a bill that would close the boarder FIRST and the senate rejected it immediately without thought.
I am sooooo PISSED at the federal government. IT MAKES ME SICK. THEY ARE ALL PATHETIC, THEY ARE ALL CORRUPT, THEY'RE GREEDY PIGS. This is all about the bottom line, money and power. and they will do anything to get and keep it, even if it destorys this country. This whole amnesty thing is all about votes and money, votes for the democrats and money for the republicans.
BOTH PARTIES ARE CORRUPT, BOTH PARTIES ARE DESTORYING THIS COUNTRY, BOTH PARTIES ARE PATHETIC PIGS, GREEDY PIGS. AND THEY DON'T CARE THAT THEY'RE DESTORYING THIS COUNTRY.
AND BUSH, I'VE COMPLETELY TURNED AROUND ON HIM, I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF HIM
Did you notice that he, out of no where, had a dual conference(or whatever it was) with Blair today, HE WAS TRYING TO DEVERT ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE SENATE AND THEIR VOTE FOR AMNESTY.
THERE IS NO LEADERSHIP ANYWHERE, THIS COUNTRY IS RUN BY CORRUPT POWER/MONEY HUNGRY PIGS, PIGS THAT DON'T CARE IF THEY'RE DESTORYING THIS COUNTRY. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE CORRUPTION. this has to be the most corrupt government we've ever had. left and right up and down, corruption is everywhere.
America, you have to open your eyes and ears, come on. this is no longer the government of the people by the people and for the people any more, its now the Imperial Federal government. just look around, congressman jefferson was caught with $90,000 in cold storage(he was caught on tape accepting a $100,000 bribe), the FBI investigates and now both DEMS and REPUBS are pissed because the FBI got permission to search his office.
THE FBI IS INVESTIGATING A CRIMINAL CASE AND THE POLITICIANS ARE SAYING, "you can't search our offices, do you know who we are? we're congressmen."
they think they're above both the people and the law.
WAKE UP AMERICA, THE PEOPLE IN CONTROL OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS FLYING OUR COUNTRY INTO THE GROUND. AND WE'RE NOT DOING A DANM THING.
MY *bleep* i'm so pissed i'm shaking. I don't know what to say, I feel like i'm one of those jews wondering the desert for 40 years waiting for the current government to die off.
I really don't know what else to say, If nothing changes america will be no more, freedom will be gone, mexico will probaly take over the southwest(which is what they're trying to do right now) socialism/communism will take over, there will probaly be a huge increase in terrorist attacks on this coutry, china can pretty much do whatever they would want to us with ease, canadians will no longer be able to get better health care by just coming across the boarder(legally, and we welcome them legally, oh and they also pay for it out of pocket too, unlike the latinos)
and this is gonna happen alot sooner then you think. EVERYTHING that you take for granted will be gone.
this country will no longer exist because the american people just don't care. we have the power to do ANYTHING, and we waste it on american idol and entertainment tongiht and football(american), while the politicians are selling this country away. and we do nothing, our greatest freedom, the freedom to freely elect the government is not used, instead the people vote for america's idol(remember last years idol, an illiterate mother(teen pregancy) <----this was america's idol, this is who america looks up to, )
America is unbelievably(sp?) screwed up, I remember when I was growing up, I thought: my god, I was born in the greatest country, and I'm living in the greatest country with all of its opportunities and freedoms and resources and beauty and gracessness and generousity, I thought that I was the luckyest person in the world. then when I got older I woke up and was smacked in the face with reality, the realization that this is one of the worst times in america's history and i'm right in the smack of it, and it seems like nobody else gives a damn.
I'm done i'm too tired to say anything else.

Unfortunately I agree with 90% of what you say. Corruption and greed however, are not new, they have always been with us. Tammany Hall, Richard Daley's Chicago, and others come to mind. Whether it truly is worse now, or there is just more exposure of it because of increased communication abilities and the media seems to be a moot point because as you said no one seems to care. The only thing that MIGHT get the pols attention is a massive campaign of letters, e-mails, and phone calls to our "representatives" expressing our displeasure and letting them know that unless things change they WILL NOT be re-elected. Personally I am telling Chuckie, Hillary, and company how unhappy I am about both of the issues mentioned. However, unless a LOT of people do this, if there are only a few voices crying out in the wilderness, nothing wiil come of it. I would think that no matter where one stands on the border/amnesty issue that everyone in the country would be incensed by the way both parties have managed to close ranks and take umbrage because the "sanctity" of one of their offices was violated. I encourage everyone to write, phone, and e-mail there representatives and senators to let them know how you feel.
I encourage everyone to write, phone, and e-mail there representatives and senators to let them know how you feel.
The really sad part is that you even have to do that in the first place. Fact of the matter is they are way too far out of touch with the rest of their country. You should never "need" to write to them, they should be available to you (in a town hall session, whatever) where you can voice your concern directly.
The leadership in this country has a big problem, and that problem is they see politics as a Career - instead of as an opportunity to represent. Granted its a job because it pays, but it should not be a lifetime job simply for the money. The ability to serve one's country is an honor ... and it should be treated as such.
Reality is the government is no longer in touch with its constituents and until Americans stand up and demand proper representation, its never going to change.
Case in point:
So, I'm driving down the highway one day and this a-hole floats halfway into my lane nearly taking the front end off of my Jeep... As I drive by, a-hole has the cell phone in one hand blabbing away, and a bottle of something (water) in the other which is barely holding onto the wheel. Who was it? Senator (Colorado) whom I won't name ... and this a-hole was assisting in promoting a bill banning the use of Cell Phones while driving (not a bad thing mind you) but anyway, this Senator was assisting the dammed bill!!! :realmad:

Unfortunately, the only way to get Washington to listen is to be part of a big, special-interest group. Letters, emails, etc. in large numbers get the attention of our representatives somewhat, but only someone with a lot of bodies behind him/her ultimately gets to be heard (IMHO).

Yup ... I think you're right. The Congress of this country no longer exists to serve the people - it exists to serve itself and keep power. Both political parties are corrupt to the core.
I must admit that I don´t know much about the politics over in the United States of America; I say it like that because America is a whole continent and not only YOUR country (have that in mind :approve:). But I don´t agree with some of the things you said: The way you refer to the "latinos", yes, I know there are thousands of illegals but take into account how much they weigh into your precious economy, OMG what would be of it if it wasn´t because of the "latinos". I know you´d still have the option to invade and masacre other countries for their oil but, nevertheless, latinos represent great incomes to your economy.
I know that the people from the US aren´t happy with so many people "invading" their territory. But all I ask of you is the following; take into consideration that many times it is people that need help, maybe they´re being chased politically, poverty forces them to clean your bathrooms, the "american dream" seduces them to go and have miserable and discriminating lives in the US, etc, etc, etc. Please, be more tolerant with people that have problems and seek aid. Don´t treat them as simple "latinos" in such a rude way, they´re human beings that, in many cases, surely will have more troubles than you´ll ever know.
I know that I´ll get some angry posts after this, also due to the fact that I´m Colombian, but hey, just my 2 cents
Yuri, I disagree with you. The above message is completely about the topic, that you don´t like it is a different thing.
I know that it is mainly aimed to criticize the Senate, but I stated before that I don´t know much about the US politics, so that´s why I said what I wanted about the initial post.
Besides, lets suppose that you were right, I don´t see why my post should be removed? I don´t think that´s the webmaster´s job... with time you´ll see ;)
The issue with latinos isn't that they are latinos... and it isn't that they are taking low paying or demeaning jobs. It is the effect on the economy as a whole. Cost of social services like medicaid, healthcare, education, etc.
It is the effect of employers purposefully underpaying citizens, in order to BREAK THE LAW by hiring illegal aliens. Those workers, being undocumented, are "cheated" by not not being frovided health care coverage, insurance, workmans comp, OSHA regulations, etc... as they know they are illegal, they do not claim their rights (the rights they would have if they were legal) and so thereby burden governement services instead of the employer.
Illegal aliens that come here to work, are looking for money, and sometimes for a better life, but are not necessarilly interested in becoming Americans.
Why is it that other countries can have immigration policies that are not explored, but the US having a policy is all of a sudden racist. More people immigrate to the US than any other country, from all over the world. But when we want secure and defend our country, INSIDE OUR OWN BORDERS, then we are evil and racist.
You can't win... We can't defend our interests abroad, and now we can't defend them at home.

I know you´d still have the option to invade and masacre other countries for their oil
Regardless of the world's view of the recent events overseas - believe me we DID NOT condone the invasion of Iraq because of Oil. Had America been lead to believe that the purpose for the invasion was to gain oil rights, we never would have agreed with the invasion (but if you're reading this thread you should also understand that the public's opinion wouldn't have meant a thing anyway seeing as the government is doing what ever the hell it wants anyway. Much like skin color, you can't judge a country based upon the actions of a few.

Easily solved by CEO's not getting paid multi-millon dollar compensation for wages/retirement plans. This country has so many grossly overpaid CEO's that we could easily recover the increased costs of production by cutting the fat in their wallets.

--- and those folks we have no problem with, because in most cases they seek asylumn - and they do it legally. The big problem is those that enter the country ILLEGALLY. The big problem is they (illegals) don't contribute, they leach. They leach of the welfare system (using illegally obtained false identification), they leach off the employment/consumer system by living multiple families to a house and sending the money back to Mexico, and they leach off of the American worker by bringing down wages -
These aren't jobs American's won't do, they are jobs American's can't do for the wages Illegals will do them for. Why? Because American's don't live in communal conditions. We don't live with 3-5 other families in a 1-2 bedroom house. Financially most Americans can't afford to earn the wages that Illegals will accept because Americans are not willing to live in that manor.
Poverty in Mexico is NOT AN AMERICAN PROBLEM. It is a MEXICO problem. It is Mexico's problem to fix. The solution is not to send your problems here, so that they can send the money back. If Mexico want's aid all they have to do is ask. American investment firms I'm sure would gladly come to the resque if Mexico could provide a solid business plan to get its economy back on its feed and off of our backs.

Where you are from is of little to no consequence. You can and should voice your opinion (it's called freedom of speech and its something America tries to get the world on board with), but please if you do wish to speak about something, get informed about it ... not from the Bullsh*t the press will feed you, but from the people who actually care about the issue, not the people who want headlines.

This should shed a little light on the situation, and why it is so frustrating that America is getting beaten up over the Immigration debate:
Quote:
The following is excerpted from Rush’s transcript quote: “All right, immigration proposals under discussion. Let me add mine to the mix. I want to call this proposal the Limbaugh Laws. …First, if you immigrate to the United States of America, you must speak the native language. You have to be a professional or an investor. [America is] not going to take unskilled workers…There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, no government business will be conducted in your native language. Foreigners will not have the right to vote…nor will they ever be allowed to hold political office. According to the Limbaugh Laws, if you're in our country, you cannot be a burden to taxpayers. You are not entitled, ever, to welfare, to food stamps, or other government goodies. You can come if you invest here, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage. If you don't know have that amount of money, you can't come and invest. You have to stay home. If you do come and you want to buy land, okay, but we're going to restrict your options. You will not be allowed to buy waterfront property in the United States. That will be reserved for citizens naturally born in this country.”
“In fact, as a foreigner, you must relinquish individual rights to property… Another thing. You don't have the right to protest when you come here. You're allowed no demonstrations, you cannot wave a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies, or you get sent home. You're a foreigner. You shut your mouth or you get out, and if you come here illegally, you go straight to jail and we're going to hunt you down 'til we find you.” End of quote.
Now.... hopefully that got you a little upset with Rush. But READ ON!!!
Quote:
“I can imagine many of you think that the Limbaugh Laws are pretty harsh. I imagine today some of you probably are going, "Yeah! Yeah!" Well, let me tell you this, folks. Every one of the laws I just mentioned are actual laws of Mexico, today. I just read you Mexican immigration law. That's how the Mexican government handles immigrants to their country.”
please if you do wish to speak about something, get informed about it ... not from the Bullsh*t the press will feed you, but from the people who actually care about the issue, not the people who want headlines.
Just out of curiosity would you (or anyone else that posted here) please site the research (academic or otherwise) that you conducted to arrive at your conclusions. Did you use some sort of statistical data to discern that the majority of the illegals that are in the States leach off the system? What is the ratio of illegal leachers to non-illegal leachers? What research have you done into the history of the living wage movement in the United States to come to the conclusion that it is the low wages illegals work for that keep down the minimum wage? Have you read any economic research on the potential affect amnesty will have on the economy? How about reading reports from national security think tanks?
From the majority of observations made in this post it seems to me that no one is operating with a complete understanding of the issue. By and large, this is the reason that politicians aren’t listening, because the majority of people don’t take the time to become educated on a given issue and therefore don’t have anything to do but complain.
