I guess this is going to happen every once in awhile. The insurgents use the Iraqi civilans as shields and it's hard to tell the bag guys from the good guys untill they try to kill you.The woman and children can put a granade in your lap just as easily as the men.As a veteran of the Vietnam war I have seen how the "innocent civilians" can kill you dead in a heart beat.In a manner of speaking I have walked in their shoes and I can understand things better than one who has never been in a war or been shot at.If these Marines did in fact kill in cold blood they will be punished. Also I think the insurgents should get equal time for criticism. Let us not forget they have no problems killing their own countrymen ,aka, innocent civilians,Red Cross workers, aid and religious people.Sometimes when you deal with animals you acquire the animal instinct. All we can do is pray our brave soldiers will do the best they can.

Also as a Vietnam Vet, I want to thank you for your note, We tried our best to tell the good guyes from the bad, but it wasn't all black and white, there was alot of grey. You just had to experience it to understand.

Thank You for serving our country,

Shame on you, America, where all the brave and free have vanished.
What America has to do with it, dude?
If this is true they are a bunch of criminals, not worthy to be called soldiers, but not America nor Marines have anything to do with that. Chill!

On a side note: I like it when people who have never heard the sound of a ricochet 2cm from their ear dare to critisize... nevermind

Amen!

Let's face it, there are bad people everywhere, even in the military. No matter where they are, they need to be caught and punished. However, for grief's sake, let's quit with the generalizations! The subset "all" of any collective grouping is ALWAYS in error because we are all individuals and make our own good (or bad) choices!

I lost a number of friends in the Viet Nam war but I refuse to condemn all military, or all Vietnamese for the loss! My "adopted" son is Chinese and grew up in Thailand and Viet Nam. I should hate him, or even his family for deaths during a war. God forbid! You have to judge people by their actions, not by their politics or anything else. The bad we should prosecute.

As an aside: if you have never been in a life or death situation it is impossible to put yourself in someone else's shoes. I have, and I'll never judge someone who is afraid for their family/friends in quite the same way again. Once again, though, we all have to face the consequences of all of our actions...including reactions to our speech/written word.

Thank you Tblove.
I don't blame these people. Actually I'm glad they can continue their discussions, talk, chat, drink coffee, visit restaurants, get laid.
As a wise man said:"We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

'nough said. back to the HOF threads...

"I know you have walked in the Valley of Death."

What a kitsch. You mean the My Lai massacre, where the US army killed 500 innocent civilians?

This is your war, your president started it. You claim people to be responsible. You are responsible for the actions of your government and your army. Abu Ghureib, Guantanamo, Haditha... single incidents?

Don't you see that the image of this once so great nation couldnt be worse in the world?

Most people in the world think: Hey, they talking of womens rights, and kill innocent women, they are talking of international law, and break it, they are saying, they fight for human rights, but they are torturing.

This is not right.

Yes, that is right. And I am VERY thankful that the United States of America brought democracy to us in WW II some 60 years ago. The Nürnberg trials were the true beginning of international law. That is why I am so sad, that nowadays America is spitting on internatinal law and human rights.

Just for the record, and to address the request to close the thread.

As long as the discussion stays "decent" and "civil" (yes, that's a threat) the thread is ok to stay open IMO.

We all get guilty of typing before thinking - keep it clean please.

Personally I am not a fan of the idea that political issues are discussed on Aximsite. But there has to be a counterpoint to radimus republican propaganda. As soon as that kind of threads vanish, i will only post Axim related posts.
