If "the team" was poor second-half (and I don't think they were - although they were tired from the heat), then that was simply down to what can only be described as the most insane substitutions I have ever seen Eriksson, or any England manager, make.

What a complete ass.

To be honest - I'm glad to see the three points. Such a cliche but "there are no easy games anymore" and a win against Paraguay with a win against T&T puts us through.

Roonaldo will be back. The players will adjust better to the hear. Owen will improve his fitness. It's a decent enough base to build on.

And with T&T and Sweden coming in at 0-0 it's even more positive.

I didn't like the ref either. But to the credit of BOTH sets of players it was a fairly clean game overall and they didn't let the bad referring get in the way.

Wow @ Sweden vs. Trinidad and Tobago. Paraguay and England will surely crush Trinidad and Tobago, which means Sweden is practically out.

I wouldn't rule out a draw between England and Sweden.

So if that's the case then Sweden could still make it through if they get a good result against Paraguay. It's certainly a good result for the English fans though :)

Guys, I think that game was perfect for the English.
1. they won
2. they played 60% of their ability, save themselves for later
3. showed no tactics! After this game it's almost impossible to determine how to play against the English and I personally think, that is exactly what Ericsson wanted

I only hope our team leader Lars Lagerback now understood that Kim Kallstrom needs to play from start AND leat Anders Svensson sit on the bench instead. Then we will make it through the group as second placer. Basicly we still have a good chanse of going to the next stage and I just don't hope they blow it this time.

Wow, today's games were awesome!!!

Spain trounces the Ukraine 4-0, although that sending off and penalty kick call was atrocious. That is by far one of the worst calls I've ever seen.

Saudi Arabia comes back from behind, but allows Tunisia to score in injury time.

Germany pressures the Poles all night, and finally gets one to go in, also in injury time.

My biggest complaint is all these yellow cards being given! A couple of games have had 8 cards given, and it seems all the matches have at least a hand full of people booked. And with the two yellows and you sit rule, is absolutely ridculous. There isn't going to anyone to play in the second round.

gosh! Germany's game was really intense! I'm rooting for Ecuador since my country's very lousy team is not likely to get to a World Cup in the next 24 years...

I laughed the entire game! Right before the WC Ukranian coach told the press Ukrain is going to win the Cup. They were so full of themselves after the qualifications that they actually believed it...
Once they stepped to the field, well... The entire game I had this feeling that the coach should call them one by one to the lines to change their diapers
