Football Word Cup

Anyone watch the games today?

Germany looked a bit weak at the back didn't they? But it was a great game, entertaining.

Yeah, I think like you. The two central backs from Germany are not a good guaranty.
BTW, what a magnificent goal from Lahm !!

Ecuador certainly suprised me... and by all accounts they're about the same level as Paraguay... so this afternoon should be interesting.

Germany did look shakey at the back, certainly not the force they have been... so it's shaping up nicely

Yes, but Germany always look rubbish (with the possible exception of the Muller or Klinsman eras), yet they always seem to sneak through to the ruddy final.

Fact: there has only ever been 1 World Cup Final that has featured neither Brazil nor Germany. So pop quiz, hot shots, which one? And no googling...

Germany - Costa Rica was a great . Especially the first goal by the germans ( Bahm ? ) One game im especially looking forward to is Sweden - England. There you have a great game with great players.

by statistics, WC winners alternate - Europe/S.America, + S. Amerian team has never won WC on European soil (or maybe once, I can't recall) , so statisticly the winner should be European. Given that the Mundial is in Germany and after watching the game, you have my favorite for the win. I would really prefer England winning (40 years and so on..) or Argentina, but I hink I'd put my money on Germany.

I think you memory is a bit corrupted :-)
In 1930 the final game was between Argentina and Uruguay, 1934 Italy-Checoslovaquia and 1938 Italy-Hungary. Only the very first three WC without Brazil or Germany in the final match.

Watching PAR/ENG playing right now (87th min.) and I've got to be honest I wasn't impressed with the play of either team... the game was horribly slow and uneventful, but somewhat dirty play (by both sides).

I've got a lot respect for the Paraguay keeper coming of the bench and putting in a stellar effort.

1st half we played quite well... didn't take our chances but we made a lot of them,

2nd half then we were just plain poor... didn't do anything, didn't attack, took off owen and pretty near gave up.

And that mexican referee had a shocker of a game...

(but full credit to the susbstitute keeper)
