It really is sad. Thank God he's alive though. He is one of Julian's heros...it'll be a sad day here when my guy turns on the cable sports news and hears about the extent of his injuries.
A 65 year old out of state lady (old people shouldn't be allowed to drive!) made a left infront of him and he hit into the passenger's side of her car.
The other driver had a Maine license plate, but apparently split her time between Maine and Pittsburgh. There was no word as to fault and no one has been charged yet. There also has been no indication as to any injuries the other driver may have suffered (if any).
I've ridden several 100 thousand miles on motorcycles. All but about maybe 50 wearing a helmet. Some of those naked midnight runs are quite memorable. To me its mostly a comfort thing, I never liked windshields or goggles. There have been some pretty big rocks and a couple of birds bounce off my head. If the above list of injuries are correct then a helmet may not of helped much. Most don't protect the nose or jaw.
I use to think 35 was old, but with every passing year 65 looks younger and younger.

No word on whose fault it is "officially" tho
My mom was diagnosed with early stage alzheimers approx 4 yrs ago, she was still in Va..my brothers allowed her to drive, not wanting to 'get into it' with her..she had requisite accident(thank God no one was injured) ..and yet, STILL they permitted her driving..Larry decided to move her here as she was not being cared for..since here, she has not driven but .5 of a mile to prove to her her safety and that of others was seriously @ risk(Larry was in the car with her)..she still doesn't get 'it'.
We maintain a dead battery in the car in her garage, if we took keys, we're thieves..another story, another day...
But it scares me to think of how many are out there driving with chicken ass relatives scared to take their keys!
I understand that no one wants to be contained or controlled, but for the safety of others something needs to be done about the elderly drivers in PA (it's especially bad here)
I have to agree with Reese here. After a certain age, I do think extra precautions should be taken for the elderly. If they can pass the test, they can keep on driving til their heart's content. Don't make the test complicated. It's not rocket science. I'm not talking about taking people's rights away. I just want the roads to be safe is all.
Nuts. I mean it must get STINKING hot in a full set of leathers, but given the choice of seating it out or getting skin grafts I know which I'd choose.
As a Motorcycle rider of 35+ years,,,, you do not wear leathers in high heat (At least if you're smart) but I do wear a Marsee Mesh jack which provides protection AND is much more comfortable in high heat than just a tee shirt. Theres a buch of hot weather protective gear out there. I DO NOT RIDE without a full face helmet and jacket, boots and gloves. I've been riding on the street for a bunch of years and have had only once get off which was my dumb ass fault
