Feel ripped off with GPS package

Just recently bought a spanking new X51v from Dell Canada. I'm thrilled with the unit, and I've barely scratched the surface of what this thing is capable of.

One thing that REALLY upsets me, though, is the map package that came with the Navteq GPS system. The maps were last updated in March, 05, and the navigation.com/dellupdate web page told me the updated maps would be $99!!

I'm not thrilled that Dell sold me a unit with obsolete maps, or that I'll have to lay down another $99 to get current maps.

What gives here?

Unfortunately, the average person does not know to ask about the age of the map data. Some, not all, of the companies publish the date.
It is not uncommon for the data to be one year old in"new" gps nav software packages.

I'm still using q42004 data (OCN) and am pleased. I'll probably update software next year with q42006 data. I can justify the cost of the software every two years.
