Quiet Commercial

By no means is my intent of this thread to start a debate (or any discussion at that) about the war in Iraq. With that being said, if this doesn't give you goose bumps, then your goose is broken :)

This exact thing happened in the airport when my sister arrived home from Iraq. She came down the escalator to cheers and clapping and then she burst into tears when she saw my parents who were also crying. Others came over and asked her if they could hug her and then said thank you. My father still cries when he sees that commercial.

Like Tblove the response I recieved from returning from Vietnam was not pleasent and that has burned within me a desire that our troops never have to be subjected to the same kind of reception. Indeed sir, after viewing this clip, My Goose was severley bumped..nice post.

Yea, saw that on TV the other day ... hopefully every reception for our troops coming home (weither you believe in the war or not) is like that. These people put their lives on the line and the least we can do is show some gratitude.

Vietnam was a different time, and although it ended as I was being born, I still fail to understand how people can be so blind to the fact that you folks lived through some of the worst crap anyone should ever have to endure ... and you deserved to be welcomed home with open arms.

To all who serve -- Thank You.

Yeah, gulf war 1 here, carrier sailor. No reception at all. Preferrable to the VN vets' receptions. Afterwards, got tired of teens at college asking me what such an old guy was doing going to school. Like I had no right to get an education. I hope all those liberal-arts majors are pushing brooms and answering phones now. Incidentally, we did get care packages that were overflow from the ground troops', and were a year and a half old when we received them. Ever eat an 18 month old chocolate bar? Probably would have been enjoyable in the jungle. Seriously though, I hope we never again blame the soldiers for fighting in an unpopular war again.
