My 5 year old Hoover Windtunnel just bit the dust I've been looking at a lot of vacuum cleaners but I can't make a decision as to which one will last me the longest. Do any of you have recommendations? My spending limit is below 500$ (and i believe that was set to be a FIRM limit :rolling: )
i used to be hoover gal(self propelled)...when it bit the dust 2 yrs ago, Larry researched and bought a Dyson, it is good and picks up stuff that would cause the Hoover to choke...
...yes, i am ANJ, and i am a vacuum abuser...
ps - i also have 2 small bagless canister Sharks for quick jobs(1 for up, 1 for down)

Thanks for the replies. Right now it looks like that Dyson will last the longest and be best for what I need. My carpet is a medium thickness and requires quite a bit of suction to pick up the dirt.

I don't know about the dyson, Looked at them but really...... Same plastic crap as the others at twice the price. And the hose wand thing seems overly complicated. Seems like good theory of operation but many others have the same thing now. Dyson just comes out of nowhere and claims to be superior.
I have Bissell which works very well, my second one. I killed the first after the construction vacing up drywall dust. Lots of drywall dust. About $80 at walmart which means I can buy 7 for the price of one dyson.
Like we use to say at GE. "You can buy better but you can't pay more."
