Funny this was posted. I just happened to have to download IE, because my stupid schools online program will only work with IE. What a rip.

I cannot use IE 6 because the lack of tabs kills me.

I must admit that firefox is by far the best browser out there. Even my computer retarded gf likes firefox. I installed it on her PC once to do clean her PC of spyware. She found it and I caught her installing plug-ins for it. That'll girl!

I tried IE tab for firefox but it kept giving errors (the schools website is gay). If I had to use IE I would use nothing more then IE 7. At least they have tabs.

School work is all I can forsee me dealing with IE though.

If anyone wants to try Firefox... do it. Get some plugin extentions for it from the tools menu. You'll never look back.

And I hate Microsoft and how it has to "Validate" your windows install every 5 minutes. Its so annoying. Do it once and cache it or something. jesus

Why is it anytyme anyone mentions IE there is always a FF is better post, and then some "person" (edited out what I wanted to say for niceness) goes and starts some anti-MS BS.
:bang: :soap:

Anyway, if you need tabs in IE you could have always used Maxthon, it rawx!

One can only hope MS gets it right.

Was using IE7 Beta 2 for a few months, uninstalled (per instructions) to try IE7 Beta 3. 'Bout an hour pullin' hair out but, now back to normalcy.

Runnin' IE7 Beta 3 now, tryin' it for awhile.

Sometimes, leave well enough alone, is good advice. :approve:

I like Opera because most of the FF's 'extentions' come built-in and the footprint is smaller
As for IE, yes they added what the customer requested. ripped it off? so what?! It's a known MS strategy. ennoying? yes. Should we care? no.
I have only two problems with IE: security and incompatibility w/ internet standards. Because of its own standarts, now 10 yrs later half of the web is inaccessible throu other browsers

I never said that it's bad.. IE7 is for sure a much-needed improvement over IE6 which was god-awful. my two biggest gripes are the same as yours, and while security will (hopefully) be getting better with IE7 and vista (though at the price of your privacy, but that's another story), I doubt the W3C-compliance will get any better.

Yes I know you never said it. I say it. IE is bad for the internet.
I don't think we should care about what they ripped of other browsers, let ff opera and netscape people deal with it. We know there are better alternatives, but my problem that many folks do not. For them IE IS the internet.
As for the much-needed improvement - well it's needed for them, not for me, i use a different browser [obviously ;) ]. But i'm still pissed at MS because once a week I HAVE to use IE. ( ironicaly, for my online banking, because thanks to MS people and dumb programmers my bank's site isn't W3C standard ). see, I hate to use a product that I'm not willing to use.

I personally don't care how good IE7 might be / is. I stopped using IE6 a bit over a year ago (except for MS Updates...) and I'm not going back. EVER. If Microsoft prevents me from installing Firefox on Vista, I'll just... not get Vista. I hate to bring this thread further off topic, but I think that Vista, although MS really needs a new OS to replace its aged (2001) OS, Win XP, will be pointless. All it adds is more DRM crap. And a pretty, hardware-demanding UI. And more DRM crap.

Sad but true... Hopefully since Vista is more Security conscience than XP IE7+ may be a little harder to exploit. In the end it is up to the user though. My IE has never been broken.
Nor mine, but only because I've set up my computer like Fort Knox (as have we all I suspect). We'll just have to see about the improved security, we've heard it all before. I'm not naturally someone who knocks new stuff, just getting a little jaded I suppose

I've already uninstalled IE7. I don't like the way it is setup. Plus the only reason I used it was school (which again are dumb and it only works with IE)

Funny thing is that the schools website doesn't even work with IE7. An IE only site doesn't work with IE 7. Gay. I hate using IE because the lack of tabs. Once I get into it there are 50 windows open. I like being able to load a page or pages on a new tab and let it load while your still reading the current one. Saves time and allows better multitasking.

Ex. Reading the Aximsite forums. I have the main thread on tab one. Hold CTRL and click opens the link in a new tab behind the one i'm reading. Do it again and again till I'm done with the first page on the main thread, click page 2. While it loads, I cycle through the already loaded threads I clicked on earlier, closing them out once i'm done.
When all that's left is the main tab on page 2 I do it all over again. So nice. I get through about twice as many pages in a short time.

I wasn't knocking IE earlier, but you gotta admit being asked to do that Microsoft check every time you turn around is annoying. It could be worse, I could be on my iMac or my Linux box while saying that. But i'm not... i'm on my XP box.

I think i'm gonna go to Windows 2003 Server. Nice, elegant, simple. Forget Vista

does anyone know if they put that button like IE6 had to save a pic when you move the pointer over it? I really missed that in IE7 beta 2.

I have a quick question about installing beta 3. I currently have beta 2 installed on my laptop and when i try to run IE3 installer it tells me to remove the program but it does not show up in the add/remove program section of the control panel. If anyone has any advice on how to uninstall beta 2 it would be greatly appreciated :) thanks so much

Ah, nevermind i figured out my own problem. If you installed beta 2 before March, you have to check the show updates box in add/remove programs otherwise ie beta 2 will not show up as an option to be uninstalled.
