overclocking p4 (prescott 1.5ghz)
hi...
i have a p4 prescott 1.5ghz that i would like to practice overclockiong. what do you guys recommend? is there any way of doing it through an application instead of the bios?

Depends on the brand. For instance, Dell can't be overclocked safely (if it's not an engineering sample).
BIOS is the easy way to go for overclocking processors.

There's a 1.5GHz Prescott?
IIRC, the slowest Prescott is 2.4GHz.

nope. its a prescott. that is what cpuz says. also there is a "prescott" string in the cpu.

Use a program called SpeedFan. It can do temperatures, fan speeds, and clock speeds. Note that it doesn't support all motherboards.
BIOS would be the most guarenteed way.

im already using speed fan. there is ponly one temp on the board.

Then thats not SpeedFan's problem, its the manufacturer. My Dell doesn't have a single temperature sensor built in! (stupid Dell), but I got a hard drive, and that had a sensor built in.
Still, you can overclock with SpeedFan, although BIOS would be the safest, although not the most convient way.
