I've never been on a cruise before. So wouldn't you know that within three weeks of my departure date there's a major news story of a cruise ship listing violently 30% at sea.
And doesn't it figure that with all of the cruise ships in the world, this problem just happened to be on the exact ship I'll be on in less than three weeks.
Oh well, I better make sure I bring a good pair of non-skid shoes and some tiedown straps (and keep my Axim clipped to me at all times)

and on the ship in question they were due to show TITANIC in the cinema (that by the way is not meant as a joke - they actually were going to show the film, according BBC Radio 4)>
Mechanically gone over with a fine tooth comb.
And, besides, since when would anyone from MA be scared of a little water? :hide:
Haha - I'm certainly not afraid of the water. And with Coast Guard and National Safety Transportation Board approval (the ship is on it's way to New York for it's next cruise), I'm pretty confident that with the major liability issues the ship would not sail if not 120% deemed safe.
Of course, be confident and when you return, happy 'n all that, could you be so kind and send a 32 quart Coleman cooler to PA with some sweet lobsters? We
don't have any locally. In advance, thanks for the lobster feast!
For he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow, which nobody can deny.

First cruise huh?How about some advice from a veteran cruiser.Get the sea sick patches. My wife has cruised all over the world and only been seasick once in a storm in the North Atlantic some years back.We were comming down the west coast from Alaska to L.A. and got into some 30 foot seas. She got sick and was begging for one of my patches. Many of the crew were sick also.Save yourself some grief and get the patches just in case.
Strangely enough, one of my best friends was on that exact boat the cruise prior to it having problems.
Anyways, that boat is docked for at least 6 weeks. I don't think you'll be on that exact boat. Lets hope not anyways.
The ship was "cleaned up" and is back in the water. A statement from Princess Cruises
"7/20/2006
Crown Princess Statement 7/20/06
Updated 2 pm PST
Crown Princess departed Port Canaveral today for New York at approximately 5:00 pm EST, having received clearance from the U.S. Coast Guard, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the British flag authorities to sail.
We are confident there are no mechanical or ongoing operational issues that would compromise the safety of the ship, passengers or crew.
Crown Princess is expected to arrive at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal at 8:30 am on Saturday, July 22. At approximately mid-day, passengers will begin embarking for a revised seven-day sailing which will depart at 5 pm that afternoon. The cruise will call at the ports of Grand Turk and Bermuda before returning to New York on July 29 to resume its regular nine-day cruise schedule.
No passengers are traveling aboard Crown Princess as it sails to New York, as they have all now disembarked in Port Canaveral.
We wish to again express our sincerest apologies to our passengers and crew for this regrettable incident, and also extend our thanks for their understanding and cooperation during these difficult circumstances."
