Hello everyone :D I was just woundering who has been to the dark side? By darkside i mean who have a used palm OS PDA in the past, present or maybe even future O_o.
Myself.... I'm currently waiting the arrival of my axim x50v, but at the moment i have 2 main devices, a dying ipaq 4350, and a sony clie uX50. So this means right now i'm on both sides O_o... i'm grey... However I am more of a pocket pc user than palm user. I find both OSs to have their high and low points.
Star882 heh, i use to have a PDA flashed with a Linux, its not as good a mobile platform as Palm or WM, however it was cool as a hell.
Chris Palmorb sounds very intresting i'll have to try it some day.

My very first PDA was a Palm. I thought it was the greatest thing ever. Then I got a color palm (which is in a box somewhere in my closet) and said "it can't get any better than this!!!". Boy was I wrong.
My next PDA was my switch to PPC. An X5 (which my wife is still using). My wife then got me my X50v. And there is absolutely nothing that compares to it. It's, hands-down, the best PDA I have ever owned. I can't see anything being able to top it in the near future. Unless, someday they come out with SVGA screens.

I still have 3 Palm os devices.The wife uses the Palms and I use PPC.
Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life;
Whole misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their death bury their parents' strife
It started off like Romeo and Juliet... but it ended in tragedy

I was never very interested in Palm's straight PDAs, but have owned a Treo 650 and liked it a whole lot. The form factor was great, keyboard excellent, and one-handed usage very easy to get used to and into. But ... no-multi-tasking, always lower specs on memory etc, slow and ineffective handwriting recognition, and not as many great apps. Would like to see the 700w, but also fancy a number of other WM devices more than tha one by now ...

The real fun comes in programming and porting. With only a few changes, a large percentage of desktop Linux software (of which there is a lot - just try Debian) will be able to run on a PDA. The amount of software available for either Palm or WM is nothing compared to all the different programs available for Linux.
