cab files are more desirable to me than files that need active stink jmho
I agree! The cab goes directly to the axim. For exes you have to lug out the usb cables, hook up, and put a whole bunch or reg keys and temp files onto your pc, just to install a prog.
If i ever made software, i would keep it cab only. Its a lot better format. Many software comes in cab only.
But I still think that ActiveSync is easier, since I do most of my work on the PC, and my Axim is almost always connected. And, I can simply check off everything to reinstall.

I agree too.. in fact I try to save CAB files of everything I install and keep them around on an SD card..
Thats a good idea. I also have an old computer, win 98/as 3.8 that i will use to install most exe files. Then i dont have reg keys/temp files floating around on my good xp pc.
I like www.freecabs.de for cabs, but i wish the site would be bigger and easier to find cabs (search). I wrote to the webmaster about it, and he said theyre low on $ for expanding, since its a free site.

I personally (as an end-user) like the ActiveSync installers much better. That way, I just plug my axim into the cradle, and hit install. With a cab file, I have to upload it to my axim, and then execute it there. That involves going between two different screens.
