--- the axim is pretty much dead. i doubt that dell will release another model.
And when, pray tell, did this happen? Or is it simply a case of "Axim X51v goes without replacement for 210th straight day--Axim line surely defunct"?
Dell doesn't usually do new releases until October/November, and before that they're the only company which can actually keep a secret. We'll have to wait to know if Dell has anything new up their sleeves. Though they could be rather forgiven if they don't--since the release of the X51v, there's been no improvement in processor speeds, in OS, or any must-have new features.
Yes, I think we're all aware of what there is available. He is voicing his desire for an all in one unit. I think it's a great suggestion. Hell, let me write what I'd like to have in a PDA so I can die happy.
-1GB internal flash memory.
-GPS internally
-GSM/CDMA phone capability
-Wifi a/b/g
-Bluetooth 2.0
-Extra powerful IRDA
-Compact flash slot and SDIO slot
-USB host port
-External multimedia buttons for music
-CCD digital camera + flash
-Standard barrel style charger plug
-FM Radio + FM recording
-Internal FM TRANSMITTER. (My mp3 player has this, and it is incredibly useful. Anytime i ride in someone's car, I can put my music through their system no hassle. I wish my pda had this!)
-PXA270 @ 612mhz
-128mb Ram
-128mb Rom
-Huge battery option. Make a battery that adds half cm to the entire backside, with massive rating. 3000mah! Sometimes I want 10 hours runtime over slim pocket fit.
-Use metal on the case. Titanium isnt expensive enough to not use it on something as small as a PDA frame. What? An extra 1$ a unit? Make it a 10$ option, even. All I'm saying is for a device of this caliber. Make it metal.

Ok, I'm done. Someone at dell.. LISTEN. plz. :P
Would you like to take battery out when using the camera? ;) Also, for all power-hungry components (128MB or RAM, powerful processor, phone) you packed together, wouldn't 3000 mAh be too small?
Oh, and metal casing would require stronger antennas, too!

My Mugen 3300 mAH adds approx. 6.5mm depth. Just tweak the design of that a tiny bit, and you're there. Heck, use LiPo and you're there, it's denser. And there are newer Li-Ion technologies on the horizon which will essentially triple capacity.
