is there a windows launcher similar to the palm's launcher?

like the title says.

I like to keep my desktop clean from any icons, I don't like using the start menu, I don't like using the quick launch, docks are cool but take up too much resources.

as you can see I would just like a simple launcher like palm's for windows. Right now I just put a whole bunch of shortcuts into a folder and put that on the desktop(icons are hidden but I put the desktop on the taskbar). I just click on the folder and launch an app from there.

but I really don't like that because I can't organize the icons.

is there any windows launcher that I can put all my shortcuts in one place and organize them(nothing to elaborate)?

and um.... freeware would be best:approve: if not then my wallet needs empting anyways.

The easist solution is to put all your shortcuts into a folder somewhere (doesn't matter where)

Then drag that folder to the top of your desktop (It will turn into a toolbar)

You can add as many toolbars as you like to it as well. Makes an excellent launcher, and pretty minimal too!

I've always like the quicklaunch in the taskbar. I don't know how many shortcuts you want to work with here, but I have 17 in my quicklaunch group and it works well.

A screenshot of my desktop is post #69 here:

yeah mines like yours forge, but I have only the basics. "stuff" folder(which holds all my shortcuts), my computer, my docs, firefox, outlook, calc, and trash bin.

but I need something that'll hold all my shortcuts in an organized way.

Hey.. just re-read your initial post and saw you said that you didn't like quicklaunch :)

My bad!

I think that the best you could do is use Reese's suggestion and use a folder on one of the margins as a launching toolbar. For submenu's you could drag other folders into it.

A few years ago I started using the quicklaunch with a double taskbar. It works great for me plus it does not use any additional resources.

All other programs I have tried do use quite a bit of resources.... Thats why I also only use the default windows theme (from MCE 2k5), it uses barely any resources compared to skinning programs.

Can you tell I like to have a clean look on my desktop :p
