Does that mean we can change the name of the sport. How about football. You use your feet and the wheels are round like balls! Yeah, or maybe AArdvark. That is to cool a word for a stinky ant eater.
yeah... america is by far one of the best countries, but... could be better... but in my opinion is better than france in most respects. i just think it is sooo awesome that in whatever they do and wherever americans are, they succeed.
Before you get too excited about Americas dominance, here's an observation by this fan. For the record, I was a Cat3/Master racer and have ridden with Hincappie (OK, it was only once and I was dropped brutely) and his dad.
It's great that Lance set a record that will live on for decades if not more and Floyd's comeback this season will be remembered long after he's gone. The last 10 years or so we've witnessed the greatest group of American cyclist ever, but this "golden era" is coming to an end. The dominate American cyclists Armstrong, Landis, Leipheimer, Hincappie and Julich are all either retired or near the end of their careers and there's no one on horizon to replace them. Riders like Chris Horner aren't going to cut it. Since the demise of the Tour DuPont/Trump, there hasn't been a major international race in this country and many domestic races are seeing decreasing attendance and sponsorship. There is only one major US cycling team (Discovery) and their outlook past '08 when the current sponsorship deal ends is in doubt. OLN (soon to be versus?) has been reducing their cycling coverage, not increasing. As a cycling fan, I'm disappointed that the unprecedented success we've seen recently hasn't grown a sport which is so huge everywhere but here, in this country.

I wander how long it will take the French press to claim he was doping?

yeah, americans won't always dominate. perfect example, the olympic basketball team. but when the times are good, you have to soak it up.
