It didn't just come into being as a corvette. It had many predecessors.

okay, i'll give you that, it was a bad analogy, but....
where did the carriage come from? it was created(i'm guessing) shortly after the wheel was invented(created).
my belief is that some things are created, and somethings have evolved from things that were created. and after a long period of time, evolution has created a HUGE variety of things, like what we can see in the world today.
look at cars for example, at one point or another the basic structure of a car had to have been created, man didn't come upon a wheel(which most likely lead to the carriage).
