If you rent too much they start to "hold" movies longer b4 sending them to you. It really sucks if you rent alot like I did. I am cancelling this month actually.

I heard about that... It will be interesting to see how it goes as I vary in viewing habits...
I am surprised nobody has put a CA suit on them. I thought their terms were "send back as often as you want"... But I did not read fine print, so not sure. If people can sue Verizon over disabled phone features I cant believe these guys will get away with it.
My view is at $12 I need to rent at least 3-4 movies to come out cheaper than the local store. If they hold me back, then like you I will just cancel.
Yup I cancelled mine 2 months ago because I rent a lot and it started not becoming the same worth as when they didn't care how much you're renting. They'd hold onto the movies and I would stop getting a movie for like a week and I seemed never to be able to get the new releases anymore.
I get 3 movies at a time... even if I get only 1 shipment per week, I still get 12 movies/month for $18.00
Hard to beat that, even when I used to get 2 shipments per week.

I thought about it for a while ... but then it occurred to me that there's no way I could watch enough to make it worth while, and I can't think of that many movies I really even want to watch.

i JUST signed up over the weekend, i opted for the 1 movie @ a time, unlimited plan for 9.99...i'm wondering what they'll add as far as fees or taxes...i got my first movie yesterday, watched it and sent it back today...i thought it was a pretty cool process...i rented The Constant Gardener...i thought it was an exceptional movie.
so, i'm up for whatever it is you're talking about.......
i'll reserve judgement for later.....

I do see them holding dvds and waiting an extra day or two to send out dvds. Us netflix members are actually getting a free 1 month upgrade soon because someone sued them. They screw up alot but for the price and the inventory, it can't be beat.
Some things I don't like is, of course how they hold them and when I put a TV show dvd in my queue, I'd get like disc four instead of disc one first.
Besides that they do pretty good.
I can send something and they'll receive it the next day, and vice versa. Average wait time from the time I send 1 dvd in to the time I get another one is like 4 days.
Seems reasonable for 10$ a month, but I better get my movies quick. It would be easier if I knew that I had a time to watch a movie every week, like sunday afternoons or whatever.

Me and my fiance rent alot (a couple times a month). We use blockbuster down the street and find it ok. I was looking into Netflix but I'm torn between them and the blockbuster online thing they have. Someone told me that blockbuster has larger quantities of new releases and a larger viewing selection. Regardless it would be good for us because its usually at least $10 when we rent.
there is a "trick" to getting new releases when you are a volume user on netflix.
You can setup multiple queues, so dad can have a list, mom has hers, etc. You can divide up how many dvds come out of which list, so you have one that is all the movies that you would like to see, but are in no hurry for, and the other that is only 'high priority' movies.
keep 5 or 10 in the high priority so there is always something available...

blockbuster online is a lot different from netflix. Like for blockbuster you have the option to go get a movie/game from the actual brick and mortar store, and the price of that rental would still be in your online plan.
I almost switched because of that but I cussed out a supervisor at the blockbuster near my house. Screwed me out of 50 dollars. It's actually the reason why I switched to netflix. I returned a game in the outside dropbox that's in front of their store, in the parking lot. Turned out they never received it and sent me a notice that I owed them. I talked to the supervisor and told him I returned the game and that you even got the 2 movies I rented on the same day. I cursed him out cause he wouldn't listen, and I've been happy with netflix ever since. (obviously someone that worked there stole the game)
I rent a lot. But I could get 6 dvds a week if I wanted too, and it's just too much to watch. That's good.
