I'd vote for the hard drive. Pretty easy to install if you have the original restore / os disk. First check on the dell site both in forums and the DL section. Check forums as folks often ask what the limits of a certain dell model are (and there are always limits ). But often there has been a rom upgrade to for just that kind of change. So check the dl page. the hard part will getting to your laptop if you don't have a floppy or another way to burn a cd. Good luck

and ps DO stay away from your wife's 700. you never know what she might be packin.....

Well, it turns out that Best Buy has a faster replacement drive that went on sale today. I can pick it up in the store for $65 including tax. Not bad. Now I can take my laptop with me on my upcoming trip. :approve:
