Determining if connection exists with script

Is there a way to determine if an internet connection is available (through AS or other means) through MortScript or nScriptm?

I have set up a MortScript to run activesync, then run qMail to check my mail. The problem is that the active sync connection through bluetooth sometimes appears really fast and sometimes takes a minute, so qMail doesn't always find a connection. Plus, the bluetooth doesn't connect sometimes at all (I'm having headset woes), then qMail goes through its whole routine unnecessarily. So I'd like it to only run if a connection is avaible. Anyone have any ideas?

.Net would be nice, but I haven't actually gotten into that yet. Maybe this will encourage me to get my feet wet.

I think that nScriptm will do what I need, but the manual for it is pretty cryptic. Maybe all I need is some better explanation of that program.

Dylan, just out of curiosity, maybe you could give me a short description of how you'd go about it in .Net? Maybe I can use the same procedure in nScript.

Are you already connected to the network or are you trying to find a network to connect to?

I just want to know if a connection exists. For instance, if I open IE without being connected to a network, I get an connection error bubble that says "Cannot Connect".

Qmail on the other hand doesn't bring up the bubble, it just tells me itself that the url couldn't be reached. I want to check to see if the url can be reached before even starting qMail, but I don't want to see the "Cannot Connect" bubble.

Does that make sense?

I'm pretty sure by now that nScriptm can do this, now its just a matter of wading through the manual. Or maybe finding a manual on how to read the manual.

I'm having trouble understanding what you need. So, you're not connected to the network and you want to find networks in range?
