From what I've read, it's very limited in what it can do.

I bought it, and return it a day after....

It's a really a great concept, but you need a fast connection to really enjoy it.

I can't wait for the next generation of slingbox's to come out. I'm tempted to try the Sony Play4sure or something like that. I read that you can use your PSP to watch TV shows... Hope the price will come down soon.

I really like it. I live overseas and it's great to be able to watch sports live (especially college football and baseball) on my PDA or PC. The graphics are just okay but it's still the only way to get it.

I have one too and love it. You can watch TV in any place. And although not perfect, it's good enough for smooth viewing. Even a B wireless works perfectly, does not need a lot bandwidth. If you set up DDNS, you can watch anywhere in the world as long as you can access internet.

I installed the pocket PC on my axim x3i also, it works but sometimes hanged. Have to shutdown the wifi and restart. Don't know if it's my linksys router problem or the software itself. Have not tried the new beta 1.1 version yet.

I also have one. I use it occasionally on my Axim. I bought it primarily for my wife to use at work. Sometimes I use it on the deck or by the pool with my laptop. It work great for me.

To explain her use at work...During the Christmas holidays, she needs to work a ridiculous number of hours (18-20 hours a day). She has alot of downtime but still needs to be there in case of emergencies. This way she can watch her chick-flicks recorded on the DVR without me. :approve: That's worth the money in itself.

Is it worthwhile getting even for just the PDA part? Or is the PDA part fairly worthless?

I have one, software for PC and my PDA. It works great! I'm able to watch my home cable TV anywhere I have an Internet connection. Pretty soon, I'll be getting a DVR, which is fully controlable remotely with the Slingplayer software (PC or PDA). That way, I can watch previously recorded shows as well.

As for Mac, they do not have software yet, nor for Palm, but are working on the Palm software.

No, you don't need a PC except for the initial set up. The Mac version is in beta form now. It will probably be out within a month or two (just a guess).

i don't think so but i'm not an expert on it. you might just want to wait for the mac version to come out or sign up as one of their mac beta testers.

I would say so. I just purchased one on Monday and it work great on my Axim 30, as well as from anywhere else. The picture exceeded my expectations. I found the best price at Amazon.

I Just got mine as well, and I'm very impressed with it. TO be honest I wasn't expecting a lot out of it, I though it to be a piece of junk. The software (both windows and pocket pc) is very well designed and it works flawlessly with my cable comany's DVR box. My ISP limits my upload speeds to 45 KB/sec so I assumed picture quality on my Axim x50v would be horrendous; but in reality the quality is very quite good. I'am using the 1.1 beta pocket player and it was able to easily handle any internet traffic hicups that occured. I'am traveling to China next month, and I can't wait to see how it works from half way around the world.
Highly recomended!
