I heard the talk of dell going into tablet pcs and abandoning the axim, and how the axim is getting harder to find on their site, but i noticed the axim was listed under "Handhelds and Tablet PCs". They have had this sub-category for a while and i thought it was just for the future. But when i clicked on the tablet pc subcategory, tablet pcs for sale came up, I never knew they were selling them.

It was under USA > Home & Home Office > Accessories > Handhelds & Tablet PCs > Tablet PC

Is this old news or is it new news? When did dell start selling these? Could this mean the axims are taken away next?

NOTE: These aren't really made by Dell. Acctually made by Motion Computing. But Dell is selling them along with palm pdas, etc. Not dell branded though.

They have been on dells site for a while.. I've noticed the 'tablet pc' thing in the menu's for like a year now..

This is old news. I spotted them when rumors of Dell's UMPC were out (in the spring I think) and I wanted to see what was already available. They're pretty pricey though.

Wow. I never noticed that they sell tablets. Way too expensive but cool none the less. Thanks for the heads up.

I would love to see UMPC's become popular, so laptop prices will drop. Acctually I have a customer frequent where I work, and she works for IBM. She gave me her cutomer ID and here full name and I can log on to the IBM site and I get 25% OFF of anything, no matter how low the sale price. I can get laptops from the refurbed section for under 400$!!!

I wonder what kinda of stuff a person would do to warrant a tablet pc .... if I was rich(er) I would pick one up just for the hell of it ... but i'm curious what type of computing it would serve other than for "people on the go".

Obviously i'm a noob at tablets.

I've been hearing about these Motion Computing tablets though ... some of those mobility podcasting guys love this device.
