Just wondering if there will be anything newer than the Axim X51V or if both Dell and HP are going to discontinue the PDA's and just concentrate on smartphones from here on out?
I have a felling pdas will just combine with cellphones. More and more cellphones feature the full windows mobile os, and not just the smartphone version.

They're not going away. They're evolving.
Go to Fry's and look at the Samsung PDA that runs Windows XP. That's the future. You can actually buy that PDA for $1000, but wait as the prices will fall once competition sets in.

Yes, PDA's are swiftly becoming a thing of the past. They have been outlawed on five continents. As a matter of fact, hear that knock at the door? That's the CIA coming to repossess your unit. I recommend giving it up without a fight.
I've heard whispers that Dell is out of the PPC market. Supposedly more people are moving to converged devices and away from PPCs. Personally, I prefer to keep my cell phone and my PPC separate, but I guess I'm in the minority.
I just think that the UMPC is the next generation of PPC. You're panicking over progress. Sure, Windows Mobile will be eclipsed, but you will be running an alternate version of WinXP Tablet. Hopefully, they will not sacrifice the things that make a PPC truly a great tool, such as the quick-on feature. Using a desktop OS also makes your device more compatible with other software, hardware, and the web. Rejoice, don't cower! It's a bright new day. And if you truly long for your days of PPC use, run the emulator, and it will be as if you never left.
