Probably about $50 or more. If I was you, I would look into taking the MARC train. That is much cheaper. There is a stop at BWI airport and throughout Baltimore and it will take you right up to Union Station in DC. Don't know if the schedule will work for you though.

Hmm, the train might work out - just need to verify my schedule.

Do you know about how long would the train ride be?

Thanks.

I actually live in Virginia, so I ride a different train. Let me see if I can find out for you.

In the meantime, here is the schedule: http://www.mtamaryland.com/services/...lesSystemMaps/

Where in Virginia, DG? I live in Columbia, Md and work in Rockville.

Don't know for sure about Cab Fare, but in the neighborhood of $30 to $60. The train is a nice alternative.

I used to work downtown too. I hated the drive. But public transportation was worse--too long, and too many transfers to make it viable.

No problem, Nowire. Let me know if you have any questions about getting around or finding things.

stanley, I take the VRE into town. It is a long ride, but I have a good group I sit with. It still beats the heck out of driving in every day. That would take twice as long.

Hi Doug,

Would you believe my 4 yr. son wanted to see Dubya!!! :)

My son just started kindergarten, and he seems to be fascinated with things he saw on the book about DC. Also my wife is a teacher, so she's all for it.

So, off we go to DC...

Of course it didn't hurt that I really, really need a vacation from work too. If everything works out, me and my family should be there early October for a couple of days of "educational trip". :)

This will be our first time in DC, so everyone is pretty excited. I'm looking forward for a great experience when we get there. That's why when you mentioned the train, I was pretty stoke. I think my son will greatly enjoy that!

I'm just south of Richmond.. not that that helps ;).

As far as getting around DC, don't, i repeat, DON'T DRIVE! Get on a tour bus and enjoy yourself. It will take you to any sites you want to see. Get off, spend some time seeing the site, and jump on another bus to the next site. Parking and driving in DC is about the crasiest thing you can attempt to do, especially if you've never been there. Go tour buses all the way (trust me, I've learned the hard way). :approve:

Hah, NoWire, your 4 year old son sounds a lot like my 4 year old son. We went into Baltimore and spent the day walking around and the inner harbor and went to an Orioles game. At the end of the day, he told me his favorite part was watching the train go by. :) I assume your son is also into Thomas???

As for getting around DC, traffic can be a problem. However, DC is a pretty good walking city. Also, the Metro is a pretty convenient option. It is a relatively easy subway system to figure out and has stops neart most of teh major tourist attractions.
