well, i think that this might be a rumor. there has been nothiong o nthe major news channels about this. also think about this for a secoun guys. it would take quite a bit for force for a sting ray to plung a barb into a man like that. esspessaly underwater.
Steve was an absolute delight and so brave. He did things few others would attempt just to educate us about the Wild. He was passionate and will be remembered as a hero. He will be missed.

I dont know how true this is, but i have heard that the Media found out about his death before his wife did.
I can't say that I would b all that surprised about that. When my brother died, it was on the news before my family was notifled. They also picked what they wanted to as to what the cause of his death was. That's the news for you...no respect for anybody
ABF, he was a zoologist and a conservationist. He brought attention to the plight of animals and educated us about them. He had a great attitude and was always smiling making animals seem less beastly and more friendly. He'll be missed.
Excellent wording Steve. Well put!
He was all you say and more. Education 'bout the animal kingdom actually helps the various animals Steve introduced us to.
How's 'bout the young ones, glued to the tube, loved the man.
He will be sorely missed by all age groups.

we are having a bad week, now another national hero type has died
peter brock, racecar driving guy, dies in the targa rally (age 61)
he tried to retier, but just couldnt do it, and went back to racing
interestingly, he was driving a stingray
they say things come in 3's. . . whos the next famous aussie to die ya rekon?
and just to clarify about mr irwin
his wife DID NOT find out from the news, it was a family friend that informed her.
it wasnt a stingray in the sand, it was swimming and he swam over the top of it.
even if the thing didnt get him in the heart, chances are he would have died anyway, the poison in a stingray apparently either causes heart attacks, or necrosis of the organs.
he didnt die slow, but lived long enough to pull the barb out of his chest.
his father turned down a state funeral because steve was 'just a man, just a normal bloke' etc
he was an ok bloke, annoying as all shit i rekon, i still wouldnt wish death on the man tho.
