Apparently, Steve Irwin was killed today. He was filming an underwater documentary on the Great Barrier Reef and a stingray stung and shocked him in the heart.

Whoa....He was somehow stung in the chest by the stingray (probably means he was doing something he shouldn't have, considering most stings happen to your foot or lower calf after stepping on one), which would be the only way a stingray (sting) could possibly kill anyone. Still it's pretty sad.
You know, I feel sorry for his kid. Imagine being known as the kid whose first memory was of being dangled above alligators during feeding time, and then having your Dad kick off by getting stung by a stingray in the heart.
The MSN article said it was "extraordinary bad luck", as these stings are rarely fatal. With this one, the barb apparently went under his rib cage and right in his heart. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14663786/
