That's a nice looking laptop, Martin. I personally would have waited for the Core 2 Duo processor and gotten a faster hard drive and an extended battery, but I think for your work purposes, it should be great! (I've been drooling over the XPS M1210, which is also a 12.1" but probably a bit heavier.)
Personally I really enjoy having small laptops for computing on the go and I really find the price of the Dell 420 really attractive for what it has to offer. How much did you drop for the Dell? Also, could you inform me on the quality of the screen? I've heard a few mixed comments on how the quality of the screen is dependant on the maker.

I've got a Sony Vaio SZ150P with a 13.3 inch widescreen. My previous laptop was a Dell 600M and I thought the change from square to widescreen was great!Wide aspect enables you to view/edi two documents/websites side by side very nicely.
It's also great for the occasional movie, or two, or ten...

Wide screen is so nice, I'm having a hard time going back to normal.
I put a second video card in my work PC and am running 2 19" LCDs wide... 2560X1024 is just crazy... especially for coding. You can see A-Z in spreadsheets without sidescrolling.

@eric: It's not really like the D620. It's a merge of the X1 and the D620, but owes more of its aesthetics and form to the X1. The performance side is lifted from the D620 (at least, this is what I've read in the reviews online.)
