I'm thinking of installing Vista RC1 this weekend (dual boot). I found instructions on another site for adding Windows Mobile Device center to Windows Vista RC1. It is the second comment on this page: http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=3360
Has anyone here with RC1 tried it? Does it enable syncing?

You can add Windows Mobile Device Center to Windows Vista RC1 like this:
Use RegEdit to add a key called "WHOS" to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft, connect your device and go to Windows Update. A new 7.0MB update will be available that will allow you to sync after a manual reboot.
I'm too scared at the moment - I don't have the know how to fix things if it goes pear shaped.
If you read a few posts up you can see that Juraj did it.
I also did it, but I can't say things went flawlessly. I managed to create a partnership and sync with Office 2007 beta in Windows Vista. Then when I booted back into Windows XP, I got a message from Plaxo saying I had duplicate birthdays and did I want to delete them. I deleted the duplicates at the time, but then yesterday I relalized that all my birthdays and anniversaries had been shifted a day earlier. I don't know if the time zones got screwy or what.
I got it all straightened out by restoring from backup, but I don't think I will do anymore syncing in Vista until I don't have to dual boot into XP anymore. All in all, the WMDC doesn't seem to offer anything extra besides a more graphical interface than Activesync.

yop right that's the problem..under vista must be new partnership created..and old will be deleted.but after boot to xp i haven'taby prb with conflicts and duplicates.maybe because i use office also under 2007
I don't see how it would change anything regarding to duplicates or shifting. Do you have different Vista and XP times?
Some time in the past week I noticed my time zone was set wrong. I can't remember if I was in XP or Vista at the time, but that's probably what messed everything up. I have some display glitches in Vista and I can't rotate my second display, so I haven't been using it very much.

well its time for me to reformat again anyways....problem is its on my laptop that only has a 30 gB harddrive....so it would have to be a primary because vista requires atleast a 20 gb partition....so either i get a new harddrive:approve: (wont happen for a while....got Ax instead lol) or just beta test it as primary
ps. i reformat all my computers every 9 months or so.....so yea i can do that in my sleep now....lol
so guys, how do I portion my drive without losing data? I'm new to installing OS and dual booting. Thanks.
