I hope I posted this in the correct Forum.


I have a Toshiba Sat. 1005 that I have had for years, I put it up in the closet about 4 months ago because I have a new laptop. Well, when I took it out to give to my son to use I put in a CD, the drive ran and stopped but nothing happened. I tried to update the drivers, no go. I tried to do a system restore but it wont go back past the date that I plugged it back in. I might mention the battery was also dead. When I go into device Mgr. it says somthing to the effect of (part of the registry string or value is missing or corrupt) the CD/ROM will not show up on my computers list of drives either. Shows up on a tree (I think in device Mgr. with an exclamation pt. next to it.) It spins like its reading the disk, ejects, but not working. Also all my reboot disks are CD. Any help would be great!
