Looks Good
That definitely looks good.
It looks like it goes far, far beyond what we've been proposing here.
There really isn't much technical info available on their site but a few of their comments are interesting. They mention that it is capable of any formatting that Mozilla will handle. This leads me to wonder if they are using the Gecko rendering engine from Mozilla. The Minimo project is working on bringing that engine to Windows Mobile as a small browser.
They say dotReader is based on their existing product called ThoutReader which is hosted on sourceforge. That one is based on Java. I'm not sure if their new version is also Java based. The bios of all the project members list Perl as their predominant language of choice. I haven't seen much Perl or Java on Windows Mobile.
Looks like they sell books in their format as well as working with free ones.
I certainly don't think we should try to reinvent the wheel here. I plan to keep experimenting, but I don't think we should rush out and start a sourceforge project until we get a look at their product which is supposed to debut in October. Since we all know how predicting release dates for software goes, we won't hold our breath that it will be October... :)
I recommend that everyone who is interested in this thread take a look at dotReader and see if you agree it meets the needs we wanted to address.
