Years ago I had a tape of baroque 'greatest hits'. It was awesome! The problem is - I lost it
I am looking for a CD collection of the baroque greatest hits (1 or 2 disc's). The problem is, I do not know the particular songs good enough to distinguish one CD from the next.
Can someone help me out Maybe give me a list of what is considered to be the most popular baroque songs? Maybe a CD recommendation?

p.s. Beethoven's 5th and 9th symphonies. Especially the 9th.
I thought Beethoven was a Romantic. I am probably wrong, college was a long time ago.

Vivaldi and Bach were some of the greatest Baroque composers and my guess is that if you are looking for Baroque, you should look for CDs by Vivaldi and Bach. Betthoven also did a few Baroque pieces, but not as many as the composers previously mentioned. Believe me I know all about classical music, I play in a symphony lol
I don't want to be a post stealer but maybe some of you can offer some guidance. I have a wide range of music I listen to with the exception always being classical. That was until we purchased one of those sleepy time cd's for our youngest and I actually liked it. The song that really stuck out was Pachelbel - Canon in D+. Is the rest of his work similar in nature, and are there any other classical pieces that have the same similarities. I like the mellow soft nature of the song and quite frequently will play it on my computer when I'm working as it helps me to calm down when things get hectic at work.
